I am a Middle School Teacher Technologist, Geographer, and Historian at the American School of Lima. My career goal is to help students achieve academic excellence, develop positive self-esteem and a desire for life-long learning by developing an atmosphere of respect and trust.

• 1978 Higher Heights School, Walnut Creek
CA
As a first year teacher, I taught 7th grade. The school was a small private
school located in the Bay area of northern California. I was responsible for
teaching all subject areas including Math, Science, Social Studies, English, and
Physical Education. I was also the Atheletic Director.
• 1979 - 1981 Ripon Christian High
School, Ripon, CA
I moved to
central California to teach in the high school. Here my teaching
responsibilities included United States history, World Geography, Accounting and
Business Mathematics classes.I also led the soccer team to two state
championship playoffs, one of which led to a state championship. Other
responsibilites included organizing, directing and playing in a stage band,
directing the ski club and backpacking club.
• 1981 - 1983 Woodlands School, Walnut
Creek, California
A move back to
the Bay Area allowed me to get back into Middle School. I was the Social Studies
and Math teacher for the 7th and 8th grades. I served as the Athelitic Director
for the elementary school. Extra curricular activities included coaching the
sister high school soccer team, Model United Nations, bicycling and skiing
clubs.
• 1983 - 1992 Faith Academy, Antipolo,
Philippines
Nine years, a
wedding and two kids all while living in the Philippines. I started teaching in
the High School teaching Social Studies and hoping to move to Middle School
Social Studies. After a year I did move back to Middle School. While I was in
Middle School I served as Social Studies teacher for both the American program.
I also taught geography to the ICGSE program. Two years were spent teaching the
7th and 8th grade Learning Differences program. I was also the physical
education teacher for the Middle School. A major responsibility was running the
Outdoor Education Program for the 6th, 7th, and 8th grades on the Bataan
Penninsula. I also started the Model United Nations program with other
international schools in the country. My best memory was acting and producing "A
Christmas Carol" by Charles Dickens.
• 1993 - 1994 Christian Academy in Japan
Middle
School 8th grade Humanities was my focus in Japan. We enjoyed living in Japan
using our bicycles as our major mode of transportation. I coached the soccer
team, ran a baseball club for the elementary students, and helped direct a
middle school play.
• 1996 -1997 Almaty International School, Almaty
Kazakstan
After completing
my Master of Arts in Educational Administration in 1996 from San Diego State
University, our travels took us to Almaty Kazakstan. Here I served as Director
of Instruction (Principal) in a school that was 5 years old. Students were
from the 3 year old class to 12th grade. This was the year we began a high
school. The school grew during the year from just over 100 students to a total
of 140 students. Living in the former Soviet Union was hard. The medical system
infrastructure left a lot to be desired, especially with young children.

What I'm Doing Now
Presently I am teaching 8th grade Social Studies at the American School in
Lima Peru. In the past three years I have
been involved in establishing and
meeting the following Professional Performance
goals:
• To improve student and parent real time communication by accessing information via an internet site.
• To upgrade the original Middle School technology plan. Three areas of focus will include setting standards for student and teacher competencies, reconfiguring the MS tech lab in order to utilize space more efficiently for the tech classes and other teachers wishing to use the lab, and identifying and equipping computers with the necessary software.
• Develop a ‘Middle School Teacher Technology Competency Plan’. This plan will focus on software Middle School teachers need to be competent using. It will also identify in-service training and schedule as to when it will take place.
• ‘Student Technology Competencies’ will be identified for all students in the Middle School. It will also indicate as to what and when the training of software will take place.
