Walter Hyatt and two friends from Spartansburg, SC, David Ball and Champ Hood, became a favorite of Austinites when they formed "Uncle Walt's Band". Their finely blended harmonies made them a favorite among young college kids. College kids that later became stars, like Lyle Lovett.

The trio moved to Nashville in the early 70's, but even with the fan base and industry interest, they couldn't make it in a format driven, Nashville. So, they returned to Austin, where they broadened their style, adding Dance and Western Swing to their eclectic style.

Uncle Walt's Band" disbanded and reunited several times. But an appearance on "Austin City Limits" and independent releases that were released as a compilation in 1991.

By the mid 80's, Walter released a solo effort entitled "Fall Through To You". A return to Nashville in the late 80's produced another solo release, produced by Lyle Lovett. "King Tears", more jazz than country, is an MCA release.

It's just a glove on the hand of time.
It's so long we've been apart.
But when I remember your life,
I remember mine.
