12th August 2002 From:
US2 It's always hard to leave town, full pack again, and a body that didn't want to leave. The "A" Team's driver, 'Ma', knew I was leaving at 6:00 A.M. and bless her heart, she got up early and had the jeep waiting for me when I left my room. That was one less early morning hitch I had to worry about. The trail was easier than I had expected, which suited my mood and the fact that I had new boots on for the first time. 'Blaze' is here at the shelter with me, plus three Southbounders. Tomorrow we hit the last state, Maine. That's it for today. Goodnight all.
