The stay at Gorham was great - lots of good food, a few drinks with friends, and some rest. Gorham is not a large town, probably about 5000 people. The layout is based on a long main street with small side streets running off it. In town are about six restaurants, two outfitters, a bunch of tourist related shops, and about eight motels. A little outside of town are two supermarkets and a Wal-Mart. There is no industry in town. The whole place survives on a thriving tourist trade, which I believe is strong year round. Being located at the northeastern end of the White Mountains, Gorham is ideally located to many tourist attractions and ski areas.

It's always hard to leave town, full pack again, and a body that didn't want to leave. The "A" Team's driver, 'Ma', knew I was leaving at 6:00 A.M. and bless her heart, she got up early and had the jeep waiting for me when I left my room. That was one less early morning hitch I had to worry about.

The trail was easier than I had expected, which suited my mood and the fact that I had new boots on for the first time. 'Blaze' is here at the shelter with me, plus three Southbounders. Tomorrow we hit the last state, Maine.

That's it for today. Goodnight all.
