29th August 2002 From:
West Branch Pleasant River
Today was fairly tough what with the long climb up White Cap and an unexpected five miles of continuous rocks, which really slowed me down and knocked my feet around. Once reaching the summit of White Cap I could see Katahdin looming in the distance, what an awesome site it is. (Pictured is an actual photograph taken by Downunda as he got his first good look of Mt Katahdin in the distance!) There's no room to set up tents here as two college groups of about 20 people are occupying all of the tent places. Hopefully tomorrow will see the start of smooth, easy trail. That's it for today, folks. Goodnight all.
