22nd July 2002 From:
Kid Gore Shetler There are lots of mud bogs around, fortunately most of these have timber plank walkways over them. It would be very difficult hiking here (in the mud bogs) during the spring. There are nine people here at the shelter, most of them Long Trail hikers, although 'Bliss' and 'Tiger Lily' are here also. Tomorrow morning the three of us are going to get an early start and hike 10.6 miles to Highway VT 11/30, then hitch into Manchester Center for lunch. Apparently there's a good Mexican restaurant there. I'll also be using the opportunity to buy additional food that I require from the supermarket. I'm in the shelter tonight as a storm is expected - we're all hoping it comes. That's all for today. Goodnight all.
