Wilson Creek Shelter Lucky for me that the trail was easy as my feet are getting bigger and my toes are pushing into the end of my boots. It's quite uncomfortable and my toes are really sore by noon. There's an outfitter's store in Waynesboro, which is 100 miles north or 6 days hiking from here. I'll drop in there and replace my boots. As it as turned out, the soles of my boots are nearly worn out anyway. I'm starting to find that my appetite is growing rapidly and that I haven't brought enough food with me. The result is I find I am hungry all day. I'll need to consider my shopping list with more care next time I get into town. The weather forecast for the remainder of the week is for much warmer weather. All of us in the shelter can't wait as we are getting tired of this artic freeze! This shelter is one of the newer and bigger on the trail. It has an upstairs section with a wide, covered porch on two sides. At the shelter here tonight are: Just John, Heavy D, Real, Charlie Fox Trot, Milkshake, Cheeseburger, and Princeton, the dog. It's 7:15 P.M. and quite cold, so I'll say goodnight all. |
