IN PRAISE OF YOUNGER VERMIN
A doctor I know recently told me that maggots have a prophylactic effect when introduced into open wounds which threaten to become gangrenous. It seems that they much prefer dead flesh to the live variety and prevent infection in the latter by dining exclusively on the former. As this grisly revelation unfolded, my undulating insides suggested that it might be preferable to lose a limb than to endure Е what Е larva therapy? But I guess it is narrow minded to refuse much needed succor simply because its source indulges a few unorthodox appetites. Creatures that feed on our open wounds: maggots, leeches, politicians, clerics, may seem pretty disgusting to most, but that doesn't necessarily mean that they don't have their uses. |
