| As I made my way along the Trans-Canada highway, I noticed several rather large concrete disks off to the side of the road. I eventually found out that in the winter, a regiment of the Canadian military mounts artillery guns on these disks and blasts shells at accumulated snow on the mountains. This is for avalanche control. In fact,this stretch of highway is the most controlled area in the world. |
