Mt. Fuji
There are several reasons why I dedicated a whole gallery to this Japanese landmark.
First, I attempted to climb Mt. Fuji four times...three successfully, one almost fatally (click here to read
The Toronto Star's article.). Second, I have cycled up to the fifth stage (end of the Fuji-Subaru Toll Road) three times. Third, I camped in and around Fuji's Five Lakes (fujigoko.) Fourth, climbing Fuji gave me valuable experience that I applied to the Mount Everest Trek in 2001. Finally, I always like a challenge.
They say in Japan, there two kinds of people who climb Mt. Fuji: the elderly and tourists. They also say that you have to be insane to climb Mt. Fuji twice... Oops.
