Arigatoo-gozaimashita sensei!
This was my Japanese teacher and her family. Hiroko-san volunteered to teach Japanese at the Narashino International Association where we met.
She was a truly wonderful and self-less person. She welcomed me into her home for dinner with her family on several occassions. It was so much fun to be a part of this family's life. I miss them immensely and wish that one day our paths will cross again.
Learning Japanese was not that difficult mainly because I was surrounded in the language. I never slept on the trains for I used to practice my reading. I listened to J-pop and watched TV in Japanese. I used it constantly with instant feedback from people. Studying with Hiroko-san just added to the excitment of simply communicating in a new language. The fruits of my studies culminated in winning a Japanese Speech Contest just before I left for Nepal.
