These pictures were taken in my city called Sakura. During their festival, people parade in 19th century Japanese clothing. They also parade the mikoshi (portable shrine) with music and children dancing on top. There are several in the procession ranging in size. These are carried through the streets or, for the larger ones, are pulled. I took part in my first year by pulling one of these shrines. There are food stalls along the entire parade route. |
