Y&R’s Mac has sat squirming on the sidelines all summer while Billy made kissy-face with Brit for the Glow live Webcast. But things get even worse for Mac this week, as a scorned Brittany decides no to get mad, but to get even.
“In terms of romance, Mac is an inexperienced you girl,” Kay Alden points out. “Billy is living this constant masquerade, hanging out with the very sexy Brittany. So all of Mac’s perceptions are in a state of total confusion.”
“Billy has to play the game with Brittany,” says DT. “He doesn’t like doing it, but it’s the only way to keep everyone from realizing what’s really going on b/w B&M.”
“I don’t think he really understands how hard it has been for Mac to watch him be affectionate with someone else,” adds Alden. “He doesn’t comprehend the depths of her insecurities”
Across the room, sneaky Brit quietly confides her plan to the Scheme Queen, Phyllis. “It hurts her that Billy is actually in love with Mac,” offers LW. “Brittany wants them to feel the same kind of hurt that she experienced watching them kiss earlier in the summer.”
Minutes before shooting is about to resume, Brit pulls Mac aside and drops a bombshell – she and Billy have been sleeping together all summer. Brit then compounds her lie by announcing that she and Billy have something special planned for the evening.
Brit then puts her plan into action, persuading Rianna to leave her alone with Billy in the pool house, slipping sleeping pills into his coffee and then urging an unsuspecting – and clearly fatigued – Billy to drink it. While Mac is off taking a rest break, Brit begins to seduce Billy and then, under the watchful eye of Phyllis, slyly turns off the camera.
“Brittany wants to punish Billy,” says LW. “As far as Brittany is concerned, he is still her boyfriend. She really loves him”
When Mac resurfaces, Phyllis pretends there’s a problem with the feed from inside the pool house and tells her assistant to check on it. That leads Mac to the scene of the crime.
“Mac hasn’t been sure about Brittany’s stories,” explains AB. “So when you look at what happens from Mac’s perspective, all she really knows is what she will see with her own eyes.”
