**Dare To Make A Diffrence**

Introduction to Tables.
Why use tables?

Tables are great for controlling how you want your page to look, how you want your text and graphics to align and can even form a frame,to add emphasis to what you want to draw peoples attention to the most.

They are also needed to keep your page's content from running into a border background, if you decide to use one,and keep it clearly readable.
Disadvantages?

The disadvantages are few,but important to take into consideration. One of the most important is that tables are displayed differently in the two major browsers,Internet Explorer and Netscape.

Internet Explorer handles tables very well, with minimal fuss. But Netscape doesn't. Even the newer versions of Netscape don't display some tables correctly.

Plus,Netscape is very unforgiving in mistakes in table codes. If you leave off the end tags of a table,Netscape will refuse to display anything inside or below the table.Internet Explorer will still display the table, so it can fool you into thinking that the table is coded properly.

You'll need to use both browsers to test each page that has a table in order to be sure that the table is coded the way you want it and that it's still viewable to most of your visitors.

Where to begin?

We will begin with lesson one - Building the basic table. Once you've read through this lesson and made your first practice table, you must then send the url to your practice page to your instructor, who will review it and give suggestions where needed. Once you have completed the lesson successfully, On to Lesson
