<FROM CCCircus> Hi and welcome to #CheckOut.com4 ! Today we will be chatting with actor

Anthony Michael Hall! If you would like to ask a question please type in /msg CCCircus <Your

Question> . =-)

<KatieHolmes> I'm pretty sure it is February.

<KatieHolmes> I play a 20 year old college student, an English major,

<KatieHolmes> I am a student of Michael Douglas' character and I am the type of girl that is

<KatieHolmes> kind of wise beyond her years and I have a definite kind of a crush and

<KatieHolmes> admiration type of thing for Michael Douglas' character

<KatieHolmes> So I spend most of my time thinking of ways to get close to him.

<KatieHolmes> *

<AskKatie> jarrod says: Are you planning on going to college? And if so where?

<KatieHolmes> Yes. I'm going to go to Columbia University

<KatieHolmes> however I do not know when.

<KatieHolmes> *

<AskKatie> JoeyLovesPacey674 says: What is going to happen this season with Pacey and

Joey? I think they are very cute together...can fans hope for a romance to happen there?

<KatieHolmes> Well, so far Pacey and Joey have this burgeoning friendship

<KatieHolmes> and they both can relate to each other's problems.

<KatieHolmes> Misery loves company and so I think we will see definite

<KatieHolmes> growth between these two characters.

<FROM AskKatie> thanks CO-Alex, your question has been received

<KatieHolmes> As to whether or not they will get involved romantically,

<KatieHolmes> just as life goes, we don't know.

<KatieHolmes> *

<AskKatie> paceyjoeyfan says: Katie, Josh recently said 'Katie's gotten even more beautiful over

the summer. But wait until you meet her, that's when you fall in love with her'. I thought that was

really sweet, and shows you guys have really great chemistry. Have you ever thought of starring in

a movie with him (or any other cast members)?

<KatieHolmes> I feel very fortunate to be working with the people that I get to work with every

day.

<KatieHolmes> I think we all have a pretty amazing chemistry with each other

<KatieHolmes> which is really wonderful and these guys are my best friends down here

<KatieHolmes> and I would love any opportunity to work with them

<KatieHolmes> in the future when Dawson's Creek is just a memory.

<KatieHolmes> I think very highly of my cast mates and I think they are all

<KatieHolmes> very talented and I learn so much from them every day.

<KatieHolmes> They are wonderful people.

<KatieHolmes> So, I guess my answer would be Yes.

<KatieHolmes> And I paid him to say that ::laugh::

<KatieHolmes> *

<AskKatie> LaLinger says: How long do you think you will be in Dawson's Creek?

<CCCircus> To ask Katie a question, use the input bar at the top of your screen ot type /msg

ASKKatie <your question here>.

<KatieHolmes> I guess that depends on the fans--how long they want us on the air.

<KatieHolmes> Dawson's Creek is something that is obviously very special to the six of us

<KatieHolmes> and we are sticking around.

<KatieHolmes> *

<AskKatie> christie says: Do you like Wilmington? And have you been able to look over the city?

<KatieHolmes> Yes, I love Wilmington. This is our 3rd year down here

<KatieHolmes> so I think we have all gotten to know the city pretty well

<KatieHolmes> and the people here are so ingratiating and really wonderful

<KatieHolmes> and really have taken us in and made us feel at home.

<KatieHolmes> It's a wonderful place.

<KatieHolmes> *

<AskKatie> wallace says: Do you have any creative input for the show?

<KatieHolmes> Yes and No.

<FROM AskKatie> thanks CO-Alex, your question has been received

<KatieHolmes> Basically, my job is to perform what is on the page

<KatieHolmes> and we are very lucky to have such strong writers.

<KatieHolmes> However, if questions do arise that involve our characters

<KatieHolmes> and things such as that, we are able

<KatieHolmes> to kind of collaborate with the writers and discuss ways to deal with

<KatieHolmes> any issues that we may have.

<KatieHolmes> That rarely happens.

<KatieHolmes> *

<AskKatie> uaboxman says: Katie, do papazzi fans who want pictures with you drive you crazy or

are you cool with it sometimes?

<KatieHolmes> You know, it's always nice to have people come up and want

<KatieHolmes> a picture and an autograph and sometimes

<KatieHolmes> you are caught in the middle of something and someone comes up

<KatieHolmes> and it can get frustrating, however,

<KatieHolmes> what a pleasure it is to have people support us

<KatieHolmes> It's really a wonderful feeling, so yes, I enjoy people giving their

<KatieHolmes> comments and wanting to be a part of the show.

<KatieHolmes> It's very nice.

<KatieHolmes> *

<AskKatie> CO-Natalie says: Katie, I'm a huge fan! you are such a fanatastic actress. what

episode of dawsons creek has the most memory and value to you?

<KatieHolmes> I would say probably......

<KatieHolmes> the season finale from season one

<KatieHolmes> where Joey goes and sees her father and Joey and Dawson finally get together.

<KatieHolmes> It was a very challenging episode but also a lot of fun.

<KatieHolmes> *

<AskKatie> CROW28 says: hello Katie, which do you prefer doing work wise, your Dawsons

Creek Series or Doing Motion Pictures?Which of the two do you feel more comfortable doing? Thank

you...

<KatieHolmes> Well, because we shoot the show about 9 months out of the year,

<KatieHolmes> I definitely feel most comfortable doing Dawson's Creek.

<KatieHolmes> I don't get nervous and we fall into a routine.

<KatieHolmes> As far as my preference towards the different mediums,

<KatieHolmes> I would say they both offer such advantages as well as disadvantages

<KatieHolmes> and I like the opportunity of working on films and

<KatieHolmes> meeting new actors and learning from them, but I also

<KatieHolmes> am very happy doing Dawson's Creek, so I guess this is an ambiguous

<KatieHolmes> answer, but I like them both.

<KatieHolmes> *

<AskKatie> guest-always says: did you have any doubts in your mind when you turned down the

audition so you could star in your school play that maybe you were missing your big chance?

<KatieHolmes> All I knew to do was to honor the commitment that I had made

<KatieHolmes> and I didn't really think that any of this would happen in terms of how

<KatieHolmes> the show had somewhat of a success.

<KatieHolmes> So it wasn't as if I was turning down a series.

<KatieHolmes> It was just a pilot and there were no guarantees that people would watch it

<KatieHolmes> and it would have the followers that is has now.

<KatieHolmes> It never really entered my mind.

<KatieHolmes> I knew I had to fulfill my commitment at home and I just hoped that I would be

<KatieHolmes> able to do the auditions at another time because I really felt an affinity

<KatieHolmes> for the character and the story.

<KatieHolmes> *

<AskKatie> nsaustin says: I was wondering, do you actually look at information about yourself

on the Internet? For example there is a newsgroup about you. Do you look at that?

<FROM AskKatie> thanks CO-Alex, your question has been received

<KatieHolmes> Actually, no, I just purchased a computer and have been getting into email.

<KatieHolmes> I have not had the chance to see this newsgroup.

<KatieHolmes> *

<AskKatie> uaboxman says: Do you realize that on certain auction sites like eBay, your

autograph and memorabilia of yours goes for a lot of money. do you feel that's right?

<KatieHolmes> *

<AskKatie> Gendor says: Do you ever spend some time on the Internet when you're having

some free time?

<KatieHolmes> Yes and I usually spend it emailing friends from out of town.

<KatieHolmes> *

<AskKatie> guest-deepc says: what are you gonna do for your 21st birthday in december??

<KatieHolmes> I'll probably go out for a nice dinner with all of my friends down here

<KatieHolmes> and hopefully, I will be opening some presents!

<KatieHolmes> *

<AskKatie> guest-lmsmlucy says: Katie, how do you like starting your career at a relatively young

age, and is acting what you want to do for the rest of your working life?

<KatieHolmes> I feel incredibly fortunate to having been given such a wonderful opportunity at

such a young age.

<KatieHolmes> I've learned a tremendous amount in the past 3 years

<KatieHolmes> about acting and just about life

<KatieHolmes> and it's an experience that I will take with me through

<KatieHolmes> everything that I do.

<KatieHolmes> As far as if I want to do this forever,

<KatieHolmes> right now I do, but I don't know.

<KatieHolmes> I'm 20 right now, so I could wake up tomorrow and decide

<KatieHolmes> I want to do something else in a few years.

<KatieHolmes> So, for now, yes.

<KatieHolmes> *

<AskKatie> guest-creekfrk330 says: I really love your work. You are a great actress. Do you have

any advice for aspiring actors?

<KatieHolmes> I would say read as much as you can.

<KatieHolmes> Watch the great actors.

<KatieHolmes> Follow your instincts.

<KatieHolmes> *

<AskKatie> CO-GOfan says: Go looked like a very fun film to work on. It seemed as though

everyone got along great. Do you retain any good friendships with the other actors in "Go?

<FROM AskKatie> thanks CO-Alex, your question has been received

<KatieHolmes> Yes. I mainly worked with Tim Olyphant and Sarah Pauley

<KatieHolmes> and we had such a wonderful time. They are such great people

<KatieHolmes> and I still keep in touch with them.

<KatieHolmes> *

<AskKatie> heidi483 says: What has been the role that you've enjoyed playing the most out of all

of them?

<CCCircus> To ask Katie a question, use the input bar at the top of your screen ot type /msg

ASKKatie <your question here>.

<KatieHolmes> I would say ....

<KatieHolmes> my favorite is probably Joey because I have done it for so long

<KatieHolmes> and it was one of my first roles. I think she is such an intelligent, witty

<KatieHolmes> character. A lot of fun to play her and interact with everyone.

<KatieHolmes> A really great time.

<KatieHolmes> *

<AskKatie> CO-Luis_G_Moreno says: What type of characters would you like to play someday in

the future?

<KatieHolmes> I love playing strong, intelligent women.

<KatieHolmes> I think it's important to have people like that up there on the screen

<KatieHolmes> and have characters that people can look up to and learn something from.

<KatieHolmes> I think it would be really exciting to play the role of someone

<KatieHolmes> who has had a lot of tragedy in her life and

<KatieHolmes> has come out on top.

<KatieHolmes> There are many stories of strength out there

<KatieHolmes> and I think they need to be told.

<KatieHolmes> *

<AskKatie> sk8monica says: Was that WB promotional ad with the characters from all of the WB

series' as much fun to shoot as it looks like?

<KatieHolmes> Definitely.

<KatieHolmes> It was done at different times but I did mine with

<KatieHolmes> Josh Jackson, Barry Watson, Alison Hannigan

<KatieHolmes> and Carey Russell. We just had a great day.

<KatieHolmes> A lot of fun.

<KatieHolmes> We actually do really like each other.

<KatieHolmes> *

<AskKatie> HappyToTalkToYou says: Are you preparing yourself to play your part on the movie

"The Fires"? It seems to be a very challenging role.

<KatieHolmes> I'm not doing that movie. That's false information.

<KatieHolmes> *

<AskKatie> MCaruso11 says: katie, the characters you portray in your movies so far have all

been complete different and unique from one another, whether in the ice storm or go, is this so you

grow as an actress or because you don't want to be typecast as joey? i know this is often a

problem in this industry.

<KatieHolmes> I think initially I was definitely looking for divergent characters

<KatieHolmes> so that I would not get typecast, but in the process of doing that,

<KatieHolmes> I realized how much fun and how much you learn doing

<KatieHolmes> different characters and it's much more fulfilling to do

<KatieHolmes> things that are different and challenging than to

<KatieHolmes> do the same type of character. That can get boring.

<KatieHolmes> *

<AskKatie> JoeyLovesPacey says: What is the most embarassing thing that has happened on

the set of Dawson's Creek?

<KatieHolmes> I would have to say our table reeds.

<KatieHolmes> When we re-do the script.

<KatieHolmes> Because just about every week, I usually

<KatieHolmes> mispronounce one of our big words that we are known for

<KatieHolmes> and that's always not fun.

<KatieHolmes> But I'm not the only one anymore!

<KatieHolmes> Other people mess up too!

<KatieHolmes> *

<AskKatie> guest-katie_rules21 says: Hi. My name is Angela and i wanted to say you have

made an impact on my life....got any words of wisdom?

<KatieHolmes> WOW!

<KatieHolmes> I would say embrace life but be cautious.

<KatieHolmes> *

<AskKatie> Holmesfan says: Do you think that you should be considered a role model?

<KatieHolmes> Well, I realize that I'm in a position where girls may

[NewsFlash] Checkout.com and Talk City invites you to a chat with Katie Holmes, star of the

WB's hit drama "Dawson's Creek," ***NOW*** in #CheckOut.com

<KatieHolmes> look up to one of the characters that I play or that they read about me

<KatieHolmes> and although that is very flattering,

<KatieHolmes> I don't know what I'm supposed to do with that.

<KatieHolmes> My usual response is to look to your parents as role models

<KatieHolmes> because they are in your life and you can talk to them.

<KatieHolmes> I'm just a 20 year old like everyone else, and I'm still learning things.

<KatieHolmes> *

<AskKatie> guest-gfalls says: if you weren't acting what would you like to be doing?

<KatieHolmes> If I wasn't acting, I would probably be in school

<KatieHolmes> and auditioning because I love acting.

<KatieHolmes> I really can't imagine doing anything else right now.

<KatieHolmes> *

<AskKatie> facedown141 says: What is your best childhood memory?

<KatieHolmes> I would say every Christmas was always a favorite time for me

<KatieHolmes> because I have a large family and I love just being with everyone

<KatieHolmes> and all of the holiday festivities that come along with it.

<KatieHolmes> *

<CCCircus> To ask Katie a question, use the input bar at the top of your screen ot type /msg

ASKKatie <your question here>.

<AskKatie> Imsuchanerd says: If you could meet and have dinner with any three people you

wanted who would they be and what would you eat?

<KatieHolmes> George Clooney and I would eat oysters

<KatieHolmes> Chelsea Clinton and I think we should eat cheeseburgers

<KatieHolmes> The Dali Llama and we wouldn't eat meat.

<KatieHolmes> *

<AskKatie> guest-Dawn says: I know you're really busy with the show and all your movies, but

how do you spend your time on your occasional days off?

<KatieHolmes> I usually go to the gym.

<KatieHolmes> I call my friends back home and my family.

<KatieHolmes> I go to movies.

<KatieHolmes> I read books.

<KatieHolmes> *

<AskKatie> Ventrue18 says: Katie YaY!! Omg... okay.. I was just wondering if if um.. whats your

favorite music? oMG im talking to Katie Holmes

<KatieHolmes> My favorite music I would have to say....I have kind of eclectic tastes

<KatieHolmes> but right now I'm into Trains new CD

<KatieHolmes> and Tori Amos

<KatieHolmes> I love Otis Redding

<KatieHolmes> *

<AskKatie> sigma says: What kind of books do you do you like?

<KatieHolmes> One of my favorite books is Anna Karenena, but I also enjoy some of the newer

books.

<KatieHolmes> I'm currently reading The Story of Junk.

<KatieHolmes> One of my favorite authors, I would have to say, is Michael Cunningham.

<KatieHolmes> *

<AskKatie> JJsSouthiegirl says: Hi Katie! Are you more of a morning person or a night owl?

<KatieHolmes> Definitely a night owl. I hate mornings.

<KatieHolmes> *

<AskKatie> Imsuchanerd says: What do you think is the toughest obstacle teens face today?

<AskKatie> JJsSouthiegirl says: Hi Katie! Are you more of a morning person or a night owl?

<KatieHolmes> Definitely a night owl. I hate mornings.

<KatieHolmes> *

<AskKatie> Imsuchanerd says: What do you think is the toughest obstacle teens face today?

<KatieHolmes> I would say along with all of the pressures of growing up

<KatieHolmes> and feeling somewhat alienated in your own skin--

<KatieHolmes> that was my experience--

<KatieHolmes> I would say that the teens today have access to so much information

<KatieHolmes> and they are learning things so much younger than they did in the past

<KatieHolmes> and although I think that can be very beneficial to them

<KatieHolmes> it can also hurt them because they just have to much to deal with

<KatieHolmes> and in terms of all of the violence that has been happening,

<KatieHolmes> that is another thing that teens are dealing with, sadly enough.

<KatieHolmes> There is so much out there that people are learning so young--

<KatieHolmes> I think it is very difficult in this day and age.

<KatieHolmes> *

<AskKatie> Hillson says: hey Katie! U do a tremenduously fine job with your character on the

show! U truly have a gift :) Do u like to write sometimes on your own as well?

<KatieHolmes> Thank you.

<KatieHolmes> Yes, sometimes I will pull out my notebook and write

<KatieHolmes> a few things but nothing great has come out.

<KatieHolmes> *

<AskKatie> MCaruso11 says: how was it working with so many creative directors, from ang lee

to doug liman to kevin williamson? what have you learned from each?

<KatieHolmes> It's been such an awesome experience working with so many different directors

<KatieHolmes> and especially to have worked with Ang Lee on my first job. That was so

amazing.

<KatieHolmes> What I have learned from all of these people is that along with all of their

creativity

<KatieHolmes> there is a lot of hard work. They are all geniuses in their own way and it is

<KatieHolmes> very exciting meeting these people and seeing what kind of a

<KatieHolmes> product comes out of their mines.

<KatieHolmes> It is very exciting.

<KatieHolmes> *

<AskKatie> guest-scooter says: An original question: Do you eat peanut butter and jelly

sandwiches? If so, do you put the peanut butter and jelly on seperate slices or on the same one?

<KatieHolmes> I haven't eaten a peanut butter and jelly sandwich probably since the 6th grade

<KatieHolmes> but in my experience it was very necessary to put them on separate slices.

<KatieHolmes> And extra jelly, of course!

<KatieHolmes> Strawberry! :-)

<KatieHolmes> *

<AskKatie> pixychic17 says: What is your favorite movie? and what type of movies do you like?

<KatieHolmes> My favorite movie is probably Shawshank Redemption

<KatieHolmes> and the movies I generally like are romantic comedies

<KatieHolmes> but I also like historical accounts and things like that.

<KatieHolmes> I like all different types, but I like movies that have a good

<KatieHolmes> message or just delve into an area or a topic

<KatieHolmes> that isn't always talked about or depicted in films.

<KatieHolmes> For example, the movie "Happiness" was one of my favorites of last year.

<KatieHolmes> *

<AskKatie> heidi483 says: What would you most like to happen on the show, if you could write

an episode?

<KatieHolmes> I think it would be fun if the chacter Cliff from the first season was brought back

<KatieHolmes> and he stirred things up again in Capeside and Joey would finally and forever

<KatieHolmes> get over Dawson--and then he'd want her.

<KatieHolmes> That would be good.

<KatieHolmes> I'm so creative, aren't I? :-)

<KatieHolmes> *

<AskKatie> marc says: What do you miss out most on being an actress? What do you wish you

could do more?

<KatieHolmes> I miss being with my friends and my family

<KatieHolmes> but I love what I am doing so much that

<KatieHolmes> it's okay for now--to be away.

<KatieHolmes> *

<AskKatie> Halloween says: What is your favorite scary movie to watch for Halloween?

<KatieHolmes> like Martin Scorcese

<KatieHolmes> But doesn't everyone?

<KatieHolmes> *

<AskKatie> guest-wollipop says: Who is the funniest in the cast?

<KatieHolmes> It's a tie between Kerr and Josh

<KatieHolmes> They both have very wild personalties that get us all laughing.

<KatieHolmes> *

<AskKatie> creekgurl6538 says: On TRL last spring.. Joshua Jackson sounded rather..

unhappy that Britney Spears would be on Dawson's Creek in my opinion.. what do you think about her

being on DC?"

<KatieHolmes> It's always exciting to work with new people and if Britney comes on the show, it

will be great.

<KatieHolmes> *

<AskKatie> kapil says: Do you like to travel? Which place will you like to visit most?

<KatieHolmes> I love to travel.

<KatieHolmes> I love Ireland. I want to go back to Ireland.

<KatieHolmes> *

<AskKatie> katiebug22 says: What is the nicest thing a fan has done for you?

<KatieHolmes> I had somebody paint me a picture

<KatieHolmes> a huge canvas painting and he framed it and sent it to me.

<KatieHolmes> It was a really beautiful picture and attached was a sweet note.

<KatieHolmes> I really appreciated it.

<KatieHolmes> *

<AskKatie> ILoveDawsonsCreek says: What is your favorite Dawsons Creek episode?

<KatieHolmes> The season finale episode from season one.

<KatieHolmes> *

<AskKatie> kattie says: Do you have some action or activity that you are proud of? An

accomplishment that means the most to you?

<KatieHolmes> I would say what I'm most proud of is working on the show.

<KatieHolmes> *

<FROM AskKatie> thanks CO-Alex, your question has been received

<AskKatie> guest-lotney says: Katie, in high school you were Lola in Damn Yankees, how did

that experience influence your career?

<KatieHolmes> That was such a good time and so much fun to play and so much fun to be with

all of my friends.

<KatieHolmes> I guess it made me have more fun with myself and not be so serious

<KatieHolmes> and I use that whenever I have to do something on screen

<KatieHolmes> that is different from who I am.

<KatieHolmes> I guess I kind of unleash that wild side of me or something.

<KatieHolmes> *

<AskKatie> Kelly says: Are you going to be doing any traveling anytime soon? Any promo tours?

<KatieHolmes> Actually, we are not going to be traveling but we are co-hosting a concert down

here

<KatieHolmes> on November 13th, with Paula Cole, John Mullin and you can get tickets through

a contest.

<KatieHolmes> So that's next on our promotional trip.

<KatieHolmes> But no traveling for me.

<KatieHolmes> *

<AskKatie> pixychic17 says: Ive taped a couple of episodes that I liked. I loved the Beauty

Pageant one. I think that one is my fave. Did you actually sing in that episode??

<AskKatie> pixychic17 says: Ive taped a couple of episodes that I liked. I loved the Beauty

Pageant one. I think that one is my fave. Did you actually sing in that episode??

<KatieHolmes> Yes. That was me singing.

<KatieHolmes> And that was one of my favorites as well, because I got to play "dress up"

<KatieHolmes> and it was just a really fun episode.

<KatieHolmes> *

<AskKatie> Kat says: Who is your altime favorite actor.. male and female

<KatieHolmes> My favorite male actor would be Robert Redford.

<KatieHolmes> My favorite female actress would be Meryl Strepp.

<KatieHolmes> *

<AskKatie> PaceynJoey says: <Is it hard sometimes separating yourself from your character?>

<KatieHolmes> I think in terms of the character I play on television, the lines

<KatieHolmes> can kind of get crossed a lot just because we are doing it every day

<KatieHolmes> and playing that character.

<KatieHolmes> In terms of films, I think you definitely, while you are working,

<KatieHolmes> change a little bit in order to stay close to the character.

<KatieHolmes> So you are kind of influenced by that character during that time.

<KatieHolmes> *

<AskKatie> CheckOut says: Katie, looks like we are just about out of time. First, thank you so

much for being with us this evening! And second... is there something you would like to say before

we sign off for the evening?

<KatieHolmes> I would just like to say thank you to everyone who wrote in.

<KatieHolmes> I have thoroughly enjoyed this chat and

<KatieHolmes> hopefully, we can do it again sometime.

<KatieHolmes> And, thank you for watching!

<KatieHolmes> *
