If you're looking for a posh and upscale family restaurant, this would be the place to go. Summit House Grill has the warm and casual atmosphere that you would normally want in a family restaurant, but retains it's air of class and elegance in the decor and service. Let me start by saying that although our waiter was quite nice to us, it was not without that cold, snobbishness that I was expecting. Afterall, here we were, a family of three, all ordering from the prix-fixe. It didn't even count that I had ordered a $10 glass of wine to go with my $20 meal. What I would call, blind-snobbiness. But anyways, on with the story.

To open the meal, my mom and I got the House Greens dressed with raspberry vinaigrette. Not a bad salad, but the dressing was too sweet without enough zing for vinaigrette, and it was also a little too thick. Too much oil, and too much shaking. Not one of their more stellar items. Salad connoisseurs, beware.

My brother got the Mandarin Mushroom and Water Chestnut Sesame Spring Rolls with roasted chili dipping sauce. These were absolutely amazing. The were light and crispy, and had he oriental flair without tasting like it came off of a dim sum cart. The roasted chili dipping sauce gave these spring rolls the added bite, infusing it with heat and complimenting the mandarin mushroom taste. This appetizer gets full marks.

For the main course, I dove into their Baked Fresh Atlantic Haddock with Lobster Sauce. The roasted new potatoes and garden fresh vegetables on the side were very well prepared and presented. There was a yellow mystery vegetable (not sure if it was some type of squash or melon, but whatever) but it was the good kind of mystery, so no complaints here. I guess I could have asked the waiter to tell me what it is, but he wasn't really personable so I passed on that idea. The fish was pretty good. Full of flavour, and not at all dry. The lobster sauce wasn't bad. I've had better. It just wasn't lobster-y enough for me, and a little too buttery.

Can't comment too much on the Certified Angus Beef New York Strip Loin with garlic mashed potatoes and garden fresh vegetables that my brother ordered since I didn't try any of it. But he seemed to really enjoy it. He even sent his compliments to the chef.

The final touch was the Homemade Chocolate Mousse. Rich and creamy, and a little bit bitter. Exactly the way homemade chocolate mousse should be. They could've gone a little lighter on the sugar, but on the whole, it was a good mousse.
