Aresta Family Blog
This blog has been set-up for our family and friends to follow our journey to adopt our second daughter from China.
Entry for January 5, 2007
In case you didn't know, my Dad was diagnosed with
cancer in August and we lost him on December 20, 2006. Christmas was difficult to say the least. Dad was buried on the 26th and below is what I said at the funeral service at the church.

Dad was/is the only one that knows our new daughter's name and that's the way it will stay until we get our approal.

FYI: he loved her name.

Daddy's Little Girl

My Dad leaves behind a growing legacy. Four children, 10 grandchildren and 2 more on the way. I know he worried about the things he will miss. If we bring his memory with us throughout our lives then he won't miss a thing.

Dad was a very very proud man. He would light up whenever he saw any of us. I remember visiting him at work and he would practically drag me around to all his coworkers to show me off. He had such pride for his family.

He always put 200% into anything he did. Be it the Fire Department, Republican Club, or this church. He always put in his time in and then some. I guess you could call him a workaholic. Even his is email address was GoJimGo.

I'll cherish many memories. Like how he used get home from work change into shorts and a t-shirt and not take the time to change his black socks and black shoes. He was such a slave to fashion.

When I was planning my wedding we were picking songs and I wanted to choose a more modern song for my dance with my father, but Dad wanted Daddy's Little Girl. I thought it was corny at the time. I can still feel his strong hand on the small of my back twirling me around. I will always be my Daddy's Little Girl.

His last words to me were early Saturday morning , I asked do you know who this is? and he said yes and I asked who? He said very clearly, "you're my beautiful daughter."

It will all work out Dad.
