About Us

The Dover Bay Environmental Club was reformed in January of 2007, as the next generation of the former Global Issues Club. The new club is based on a format somewhat similar to that of the Student Council. We have an executive council, the Club body, made up of fulltime members, and volunteers for specified events. All regular members are encouraged to bring ideas and opinions to the table, in order to make the biggest impact we can in the community. All members are given equal say and equal chance within the club.

Past Initiatives
The Saxer Park Invasive Species Plant Project:
Members met with City Park Staff, and worked in a coalition to prevent the spread of various plants that had been causing severe damage to the ecosystem of the park.

The McGirr Education Project: Various volunteers coordinated by the Club would visit McGirr on a weekly basis and present to Grade 3,4&5 with Information related to creating and maintaining Environmental sustainability in our community.

The Lantzville Anti-Dumping Project: A site in the community of Lantzville that had been used for years as a dumping site for major household waste was adopted by the Club, and all waste was disposed of or recycled. Upon completion of this process, a substantial donation was given to the Club for our efforts.
