Meeting Notes: 5 November 2003
"Anointment" of our new Facilitator, TC Duong
- They sprinkled water on me. Is this usual? J
Treasury concerns
- in the past David Akridge from GMCW has been keeping and managing the Consortium checkbook. The checking account is connected to but separate from the LGCW account. Given Davids limited availability, Jill suggested transferred the checkbook and management thereof to LGCWs bookkeeper. Current balance shows approximately $1800 in the account with an ad for the Consortium in MW paid for by these funds. We are also expecting to pay for an ad for Capitol Pride (to hopefully be reimbursed by Capitol Pride). All present saw no problems with transferring management of the checkbook to LGCWs bookkeeper.
Potential Arts Conference with our NYC Friends
- In the past months members of the Consortium were approached by people from a similar organization in New York about the possibility of hosting a GLBT Art Conference. We decided the next step is to schedule a conference call with the New York people to discuss ideas for a conference. Some concerns we brought up were in regards to a timeline (they were thinking of next September) and the scope (they wanted it to be a national conference) and the fact we have not met this group in person. We came up with Saturday, November 15 for a call. Stay tuned for more information about the call.
Second Saturday on Capitol Hill
- The Capitol Hill business community has established Second Saturdays. This is similar to efforts in other neighborhoods (such as Dupont Circle) to coordinate business (particularly art galleries) to stay open on a particular day of every month (i.e. First Tuesdays) and invite people to stay and wander in the neighborhood. The representative from CHAMPS Community Foundation previously suggested that Consortium members have a presence on the Second Saturdays. He will send to group more information about how to participate. As a Consortium, wed like to at least do something in December, March and May (Bread and roses has signed up for this).
Martin Luther King, Jr. Remembrance
- Jill said shed be happy to organize this again. Most likely to be in the Capitol Hill Presbyterian Church.
Summer Production
- At a previous meeting, those involved with the Summer production decided to explore doing Gilbert and Sullivans Patience. They are also exploring possibly performing at Christ Church on Capitol Hill. Scott is reviewing the music. A fallback plan is to do Pirates of Penzance.
Selfless or not-so-selfless Promotion
- Those involved can announce it via the listserv. My pen failed me last night (sorry Carol) and my cold addled brain is failing me right now.
Next Meeting: @ Martys in Capitol Hill (near the Phase) on Saturday December 13 at 4:00pm.
