The 275th sets up its headquarters among German homes that were destroyed by the massive assault. Here a soldier from the 275th  AFA looks over the damage as Bernard Fredkin poses for his photo.

Relaxing after the war was over meant everything from horse play [left 2 GI's mock duel with German officer's dress swords] to organized sports such as volleyball [above right]. Of course there was always the penny-ante card game. Below members of "C" Battery find time for a friendly game [below].

Al Weisberger has a hand to smile about - 4 queens, J. C. Smith looks on.

Some enterprising men acquired a German Volkswagen. They painted it OD. It was put it into the convoy going home, until an unamused Lt. Col. Clay ordered it out.

The local villagers were fond of their American friends. The open hearts of the soldiers won friends quickly.

"Merry Widow II" is buttoned up. She did a fine job.  The M7's had nicknames like "Miss Carriage" and  "Miss Be Haven"
