With thanks to Lila who let me use part of one of her dreams for the crucifix part, and for helping me with the Valentine messages. I know this isn't the same colour text as the other GW fics, but I feel that as this is a special fic, it should be different colours.

Be My Valentine

Raliki rolled over and looked at the alarm clock that was usually on her bedside table. But then she remembered she'd broken it earlier, someone had set it to ring at 5:00AM. Making a mental note to kill Duo, Rali sat up, brushed her hair out of her face and fell back onto her pillow as she remembered what day it was. Valentines Day.

Kaliah walked into the kitchen and stopped. Sitting at her place at the table was a card, a red balloon in the shape of a heart tied to the back of her chair, and a teddy bear. As she walked closer she saw the bear was wearing a long silver chain with a silver crucifix on it. A silver dragon with a small red gemstone for an eye was on the crucifix. Kaliah was surprised for a moment, but then she smiled and opened the card.

Fumai woke up, stretched and turned her head to the left. Her gaze was immediately drawn to the bear that was sitting on the pillow next to her. She lent on one elbow and looked at the bear. It was quite big with fur that was the same blond colour as Quatra's hair and it was holding a big red heart with words in white stitching on it.

'Dearest Fumai, Roses are red, Violets are blue, Roses are lovely, But not as lovely as you, All my love, Quatra'

She grinned happily and went to look for Quatra.

Raedei woke up. Went to the communications room wearing only a pair of boxers. Sent a telegram to a colony in space then went back to his room and sulked for the rest of the day.

Malia stirred, opened her eyes and realised she was lying next to a bunch of red and white roses. It took her another 15 minutes to realise she had six thorns in her hand.

Raliki stumbled into the kitchen and sat down heavily in a chair. Kaliah was smiling happily, but with a dazed expression on her face. Fumai was eating a bowl of cereal and Malia was sipping at a cup of coffee. "Having a crappy Valentines day?" Malia asked Raliki sympathetically. Rali smiled slightly and nodded. "Yep, but then again, I can hardly expect Heero to care about my birthday, let alone Valentines Day." Fumai and Malia laughed. Kaliah's face lost its dazed look and she shook her head. "What? What's so funny? Morning Rali." "Hey. Nothing, just the fact that Heero forgot that today was Valentines Day."

"What? He didn't send you anything from space? Not even a message?" Duo asked as he, Trowa and Quatra walked in. He kissed Kaliah and took a slice of toast from a stack on a plate on the table. "Space? He's not in space. He's here, isn't he?" Rali said, glancing around worriedly. Duo looked over at Trowa and Quatra. "Uh, you didn't know? He didn't tell you?" "Tell me what? What's happened?" "OZ started attacking the colonies, Heero decided to go fight them alone. He disappeared for five minutes saying there was something he had to do. Then came back, climbed in his Gundam and flew off. I assumed he'd gone to tell you." Duo explained. Rali shook her head and leant back against the chair. "Don't worry Rali, he'll be fine, I'll bet that he's heading back right now and all he's thinking about is you." Fumai said. Rali sighed and closed her eyes. The other pilots all looked at each other uncomfortably. "OK, now I'm making all you guys sad on Valentines Day. I'm gonna do a Raedei and stay in my room for the day. See you later." Rali stood up and walked out.

Rali stood at her window and looked up at the stars, praying that Heero was all right. He still wasn't back yet. She'd spent most of the day pacing up and down in her room. Kaliah had come in earlier and had tried getting her to go out with the other pilots for a burger, even Raedei was going, but she'd said no, she wanted to be here when Heero got back. Kaliah had looked at her worriedly, but hadn't argued. Now she was home alone. She walked back to her bed and sat on the edge of it.

She wondered why Heero hadn't told her. Why he hadn't woken her up to warn her that she might not see him again. She was so deep in thought that is surprised her when she realised her hands were wet. She looked up, wondering if there was a leak, but the ceiling was dry. She looked back down at her hands and realised. Her hand was wet with tears, her tears. She bowed her head and let more tears fall. Eventually she decided to go and wait for Heero in his room.

She stood up, walked out her room and went into his, which was down the next corridor. She opened the door, walked in and closed it behind her. She looked up and immediately saw something lying on his pillow. She walked over to his bed and sat down on the edge. The 'something' was, infact a card and a single red rose. She opened the card and read the writing inside.

'My Dear Rali, I hope you get to read this, all I want you to know is that I care for you very much… Thanks to you I have my humanity back, Will you be my Valentine? Love Heero'

Rali smiled and let another tear roll down her cheek. She curled up next to the rose and soon fell asleep. Half an hour later Heero got back, went to his room and found Rali lying asleep next to his rose. He stood and looked down at her, he noted the tear stains on her cheeks, and the smile that was on her face. He brushed a strand of hair that had fallen across her face and smiled. "Happy Valentines day my love." He whispered as he lay down next to her, and fell asleep, his arms wrapped protectively around her.
