Dragon

"Dinner!" Reva looked up as she heard her mother's voice. "Come on Reev." Korban, her brother, called to her as he past by. "I'm coming Korban" she told him, and left her toys to run inside as well. "Wash your hands Reva" Jima told her. "I will mom." Jima shook her head. Her youngest daughter was now almost six years old but remarkably grown up for her age. She talked like her brother and sister. She had an incredible quick mind and was very smart. Although that wasn't necessarily a good thing. She also had an enormous sense of humor and often pulled jokes on her parents that other children wouldn't even think of. "Done" Reva said as she sat down. Jima was pulled out of her daydream. Jima served dinner and as they ate, Reva talked about everything she did that day. About her toys and how her two dinosaurs got in to a fight. Jima smiled at her large fantasy and Sako and Korban exchanged humored glances. "You had a busy day, didn't you Reev?" Korban said. Reev was his nickname for his little sister. Korban was very found of his youngest sister. Reva nodded. "I sure did" and she took another bit from her sandwich. "Mum, when's dad coming home?" "Soon dear. He's training with your uncle today". "Can I stay up until he comes back?" "We'll see. It depends on how late he gets home". Reva had a different relationship with her father the any of their other children. They discovered at young age that Reva had no fighting talents at all. Vegeta was driven away by that at first but then he discovered something else. Reva had inherited her mothers mind powers but that wasn't it. The little girl had something about her that made people smile about her immediately and her father was no different.

So he put his feelings about fighting powers aside once and for all and put all his effort into building a relationship with her. With Sako and Korban he bonded by their fighting skills but with his youngest he had to do something else. And eventually, with a little help from Jima, he built a strong relationship with her. Of course also Jima had a different relationship with her youngest because of her mind powers. They ate the rest of their dinner. Jima saved the leftovers for her husband. Korban tried to leave, saying her had to meet someone. "Of course you do" Jima told him. "After you've done the dishes and your homework". "I did my homework and it's Sako's turn". "Well, it's not cause Sako did it yesterday and if it is then you can bring your homework to me. I just want to check". "But…" he tried once more. "No buts" Reva told him, imitating her mothers voice. Sako laughed until tears run down her cheeks. "Way to go Reva. You see, Korban you can't mess with us". He sighed dreadfully. "And you" Jima said, pointing her finger at Reva "Go get you toys inside". "Yes mom" she said and walked back out.

As it turned out Vegeta was home later then Reva's bedtime. He came home just after Sako and Korban went to bed. "Jima?" "In here" she yelled back at him. Vegeta looked dirty, probably form training all day. He sat next to her on the couch and kissed her. "I think I have some sand between my teeth now" Jima laughed. "How was your day?" "Enlightening" he told her. "Which, in your language means, Goku beat you again". He scowled, then nodded. "I saved you some food in the kitchen. If you want to". "I'm not hungry, just tired". "Well get a shower before you get in bed. And drop in on Reva. She was terribly disappointed when she couldn't wait until you got back". He smiled. "I lost track of time". They walked up stairs and as Vegeta looked in on Reva, Jima checked on her oldest, who were asleep already. After Reva was born they had to sleep in one room together. They had some troubles in the beginning but they were just too old to care now. Vegeta took a shower and after that both of them went to sleep as well.

Jima woke up because of Vegeta's "Reva!" which echoed around. "What?" Jima asked, wiping the sleep form her eyes. "She put a frog in our bed". Jima jumped up screaming. "I already caught the frog, don't worry ". "Eww". "Where is she?" Vegeta walked out of the room to the hallway. The door to her room was already opened. Vegeta sighed and walked down to look for his daughter. Sako and Korban were already up and having breakfast. "Good morning father" Sako said, in her sweetest tone of voice. "Rough alarm clock?" Korban added. Vegeta growled a vague answer. "Where is she?" he asked. "Probably laughing somewhere in a place where she can hear the outcome of her joke". "The hallway closet" Jima's voice came form upstairs. "You should know that by now". He pulled the door open and Reva was sitting on the ground, laughing quietly, covering her mouth with her hand. "What was that supposed to mean?" "You didn't like my little friend?" Vegeta lifted her out of the closet with one hand and placed her down on a kitchen chair. "No, I didn't like your little friend" he said, "What was that all about?" "Your punishment" she said, "For coming home so late". "Pretty big punishment Reev. You could hear mums scream down here". "You most certainly could not!" Jima was walking down the stairs. "Reva you better get your friend back before your father zaps the thing, or before I step on it". Reva raced up the stairs.

"Punishment?" Vegeta repeated. "You know her. She's just been waiting for an excuse to drop her new friend in our bed. Remember last time. She found a mouse and dropped in my sock because she thought the food was too spicy. She's not mad at you". Reva was a very kind person and she had lots of animal friends. The most abnormal friendship was the ones she had with dragons. She was totally in love with the might creature. Some day one would just land in the garden to say hello. Needless to say, Jima's nerves had had some shocks in the last years. Still Vegeta kept silent the rest of the morning and left to train earlier then he normally did. Sako, Korban and Reva went to school which gave Jima some free time that day. She used to visit Kappa. She was so busy lately that she and no time for things like that. Kappa persuaded her into doing some training and the day passed quickly. She went home and got there just after her children. She changed the bed, which had green spots on it and after that made dinner. Before she knew it, it was evening and Reva went to bed. After that Sako and Korban also went to sleep. But Vegeta didn't return home. It was after midnight when Jima went to bed herself. Vegeta hadn't pulled an all night training session in years and she was worried. She had a hard time falling asleep but eventually did. The next morning she told her children that he had left early. She waited all day long for him to come home but he never did. That night, after her children went to bed, she sat down on the couch thinking and slowly fell asleep. She woke up because of footsteps. She turned around and saw Reva standing in the middle of the room, clutching her dinosaur. She was crying and slightly panicked. "He's mad at me isn't he?" "What are you talking about dear?" "Dad. He didn't come home after my joke. He didn't like it and now he hates me". Jima picked up her daughter and hugged her. "No he's not mad at you". "You don't know that for real. You haven't seen him yesterday too". Jima sighed. "You're right. But I do know he doesn't hate you. I'm sure your father has a reason". She sobbed. "Really?" Jima hugged her daughter again. "Really. Now why don't you go back to sleep? I'll wait until your dad gets home". Reva went back up stairs but she gave Jima something to think about. Vegeta was quiet that morning. Maybe he wasn't mad at her but disappointed in himself or something like that. Jima sighed.

The next morning she was woken by Korban. "Mum, did you stay up all night?" "Most of it. What are you doing here anyway?" "Reev came to wake me up. Is it true that dad didn't come home last night?" She nodded. "You have any idea why?" "No. I afraid something might have happened to him". "Well anyway, Reev is all freaked out. She's upstairs with Sako now". "I'd better go up there then" and she stood up. "Uh mum, better take a shower or something and get changed. We'd better look for dad". She caressed his cheek. "I'll take that from you for now". She thought for a moment. "All right, here is how we're gonna do it. I'll excuse you and Sako from school today. But I don't want to upset Reva any more. So get her to school and then come back here. We'll look for your father then". Korban nodded. Jima took her son's advice and took a shower and put on some fresh clothes. She was just done when Korban and Sako came back home. "Mom are you ready yet?" "Yes I'm done" she replied. "You sure you want to come. I mean you look kind of tired. Korban and I can do it alone you know". "Thanks, but no thanks. I want to come. Is Reva ok?" "Yeah Reev calmed down and is at school right now". "All right then lets go!"

They flew around for most of the day and eventually it was Sako who found something. "Mother I think I found him". She pointed in the direction of a forest. "There's a campfire over there and I heard a voice which sure sounded like his". "Lets go check it out then huh!?" Above the forest she told them to wait and dropped on a tree branch silently. It took a few moments until she cleared out the forest sounds and heard a voice. She immediately understood what Sako was talking about. It sure sounded like Vegeta's voice but she also immediately heard that it wasn't his, She had gotten so used to the sound of his voice that she could never mistake it with another. But the fact that it sounded so much like his also made her listen because she knew there had to be something with it. "…Weak. That's what it is". She'd obviously dropped in in the middle of a conversation. "And I don't like it at all. I should have done something about it right away but I thought you would pull it together, but you didn't!!" She almost dropped of the branch as she heard grunting. It was really soft and hardly noticeable but it was Vegeta's. She almost automatically let her mind search for him. She felt, what only could be described as a flickering, at the edge of her conscious but it passed so fast that she didn't pay any attention to it.

She could feel his mind but it was very weak. His will had been broken for some reason and he was on his edge. "Who is there!?" She suddenly realized that the question was meant for her. "I can feel you. Come out, come out were ever you are". Looking around the stranger stepped into the light. Jima yelled in amazement and fell of her branch landing quite painfully. The stranger was almost identical to her husband, only his hair was brown. He was wearing blue armor and a long red cape. Her husband, however, was lying underneath a tree and was bruised and bleeding. She reached out with her mind to him again. 'Vegeta?' she said silently. As he heard her voice in his head he opened his eyes. "Jima?" he said, although it came out as a whisper. "Jima!" the stranger said. "So you are responsible for his present behavior". She didn't pay any attention to him and crawled over to her husband and took his head between her hands gently. "What happened?" "Be careful." he said. Sako and Korban came flying down reacting to their mother's scream. "Mom are you ok?" "And now the family is complete" the stranger commented. "Father…?" Sako asked. "He'll be fine" Jima said as she was helping him stand up. She turned his head. "Some damage but nothing terminal". "Not yet". "Who the hell are you" Sako demanded. "And what are you doing here?" "My dear, don't you recognize me? I'm your grandfather". Jima looked up. No wonder they looked so much alike. She looked at Vegeta, who nodded. "So the King returns," she said.

"Mum what is it with our relatives. Why can't they just say dead?" "I don't know Korban. Stubbornness runs in the family I guess". "Ah, how funny you all are. But make no mistake this will be the last time". "We always get that," Sako said. "Yeah and as it is, we're still here" Korban added. "Not this time". "What is your problem? Just leave us alone." Jima said. "I would but look at you all. The last remaining Saiyans and all so pathetic. Weaklings all of you. Letting your feelings get a hold of you like that". "Wh-what are you talking about?" "Don't" Vegeta said. "Don't what Vegeta?" Jima asked concerned. "Don't listen to him, please". "We won't". "Don't interfere" the King said and he shot a beam in Vegeta's direction, which knocked him down again. "No!!!" Jima looked up. That scream didn't come from her or Sako and Korban. She gasped and turned around. Reva was standing right behind her. Her eyes were glowing up red and her teeth had grown fangs. Jima was just wondering how she got here when a roar made her look up. A red dragon was circling in the air above them. Probably one of her friends. For some reason Jima looked on this situation with a cold distance. "And what is this? Another one of your children?" the King asked. "Reev, what are you doing?" Korban asked surprised. But Reva didn't answer. She kept staring at King Vegeta. Suddenly she dropped on her hands and a red light surrounded her. The light got so bright that Jima had to cover her eyes. When she opened her eyes again something else was standing in Reva's place. It was a wolf-like creature. It had four huge claws and was covered in brown-red hair. Its eyes were glowing red. Black spikes had appeared from the head to the tail. The King gasped and stumbled backwards. "That's not possible. Not in hundreds of years have we…and now here, and her". Jima was definitely missing a point because she didn't understand what he was so terrified of. Her husband on the other hand understood what was going on but his face didn't express fear but pride and admiration. Reva, or what she became, suddenly lashed forwards and her claws cut through the King's armor with ease. Jima was surprised at the power of the creature because her daughter had no fighting powers at all. The creature jumped upwards and slashed its claws at his face, leaving deep, bleeding scratches everywhere. The King fell forwards and slowly disappeared into the next dimension.

And then it was over. Reva was lying unconscious were the creature was standing last. Jima walked over to her and picked her up. She still didn't understand what just happened but she was proud of her youngest nonetheless. "Vegeta, are you all right?" He husband was standing up now, although he was a bit shaky. "Yeah I think so and Reva?" "She's fine, just tired. Korban please help you're father. I don't want to stay here any longer". Korban nodded. A half hour later they got home. The first thing Jima did was bringing Reva to bed. She tucked her in really good and kissed her goodnight. She was already breathing slowly and she had no wounds that couldn't wait to tomorrow. She sent her oldest children to bed as well. They had been flying around all day and the two didn't even protest. As tired as she was feeling herself she walked downstairs to take care of Vegeta's wounds. He was sitting on the couch staring into the distance thoughtfully. She sat down next to him and took hold of his arm gently. "So now you can tell me everything". "There not much to tell really". She looked up for a moment and frowned. "I don't remember much of it, that's what I mean. I remember that I was training and that everything turned black. I must have been knocked out or something. After that I remember not much. Some moments of defect and fear is all. The next thing I knew, you were there". She smiled. "There" she said and she finished bandaging his arm, which held the most serious wound she saw on him. "Thank you" he said and drew her close carefully. "Vegeta, what happened to Reva back there. I've never seen or heard of anything like that". "Apparently Reva has been born with a special talent. Not much is know but what is known is only shared within the royal family. If can only sprout there, or at least so I have been told. The last time someone has actually been born with it was hundreds of years ago". "That part I got already. But what is it really?" "It's called the power of the Dragon. It allows a person to transform in different stages. The wolf creature you saw was only the first stage. I suppose that Reva, with her mind powers, will evolve quickly. It is also something that can be done by will in a later stage". "Power of the Dragon? Would that explain her unusual friendship with them? She rode one of them to get to us today, you know". Vegeta nodded. "Better keep a closer eye on her then". Again Vegeta nodded. She sighed.

The End
