Gertie Ghost
1968

This is the earliest of the comics in this collection. It contains no dialogue
except for the splash page's title ("Meet the Count!") and sound effects
("zoom!", "ka-poof!", "zong!"). For reasons now forgotten, a Snoopy-faced
dog-man makes an appearance at the ending.

My fascination with the basic monster archetypes was already forming here,
influenced by DC's Bob Hope comics. In the next few years it would also
be fed by the Groovie Ghoulies cartoon, and Nelson Bridwell's book "How
To Care for your Monster".

The number "2236" and "last issue!" notwithstanding, I'm pretty sure this was
the only issue of "Gertie Ghost".
