What exactly was I thinking here? I became obsessed with Walt Kelly's Pogo comic strip in 1972, and I suppose Argh just wasn't enough to satisfy my apparent craving to draw faux-Hulk comics.
The character existed even prior to this comic, as Greg Hisle and I would pretend this mythical bigfoot-like character called "The Pogo" lived in a large swampy area near Governor's Manor Apartments in Richmond, and traveled under Richmond via large storm drains (like the one shown behind him on the cover). The comic's introduction reads, "Before we begin our little epic, let us remind you that the Pogo is REAL, and lurks in swamps and sewers in Kentucky".
