Wholistic Ways To Improve Your Health

Spring is a time of renewal and new beginnings.  In nature there are many signs of this process from the buds unfolding on tree branches, crocuses popping up out of the ground and the return of birds like Canadian geese.  In our own lives Spring is also a good time to start afresh and to commit or re-commit to leading a healthy and harmonious life.

 Three excellent ways to do that are through meditation, hypnosis and Reiki. Each of these alternative health practices brings benefits including improved health from a wholistic body/mind perspective.  As well, each helps you to build a sense of inner balance.

Meditation

 Daily meditation is a time for reflection and silence, leaving behind the busyness of our lives and our active thinking minds.  It’s a time just for you and it can be amazing what insights you can gain during a 20 – 30 minute time alone with yourself.

 Meditation also has excellent physical benefits including slowing the heart beat and lowering blood pressure.  In addition it helps to instill a sense of calmness and centredness in your life. As a relaxation technique it works wonders.

 Meditation is best learned from a teacher who has been practising meditation for a number of years.

Hypnosis

 Hypnosis, like Meditation, induces an alpha state in which we by-pass the analytical thinking mind and gain direct access to the subconscious where permanent changes can be made.  One of the main differences between Hypnosis and Meditation is that in Hypnosis you are using positive thoughts and your imagination to reach specific goals. Whereas in Meditation, we tend to be goal-less and present-centred as we follow the breath and note thoughts, feelings, memories or physical sensations that may take us away from this moment.

 When a hypnotherapist guides you into hypnosis you are fully participating in taking yourself to a subconscious level and you are actually in control of your own hypnosis during the session.  Another way to keep yourself healthy is through Reiki, a type of energy healing work.  Reiki literally means “universal life force energy”.  It is an ancient hands-on healing art dating back to the time of the Buddha and re-discovered in the 19th century by Dr. Mikao Usui in Japan. 

 Reiki helps you to feel balanced, relaxed and harmonious.  It is an excellent preventative way to keep yourself healthy and it’s a beautiful way to pamper yourself.

 Reiki benefits us at all levels of our being – physical, mental, emotional and spiritual.  It balances the seven major chakras (energy centres) in the body and helps reduce stress and pain from medical conditions  ranging from headaches and muscular tension to arthritis and other more serious, chronic problems.  As well, it can heal emotional and mental problems in your life.
