"Won't you come to my party?"
Said the Rabbit to the Bear.
"All the animals and children
Of the forest will be there."
"I will come to your party!"
Said the Squirrel from in the tree.
"Just be sure there's lots of nuts
For Chipmunk and for me!"
"I will come to your party!"
Said the Frog and said the Snake.
"Parties are quite wonderful,
But don't forget the cake!"
"I will come to your party!"
Said the Fox from 'neath the bush.
"I will come and bring a keg of punch
If Squirrel and Snake will push!"
"But won't YOU come to my party?"
Pleaded Rabbit of the Bear.
"All the animals and children
Will be at the affair."
"I cannot come to the party,"
Said the Bear with some distress.
"Fall is now upon us
And through winter I shall rest."
So Rabbit threw a party,
And all the animals were there,
And the children of the forest,
Except, of course, the Bear.
