March 25, 1989
Siblings all, you came to me
Through years of pain
And years of joy
To support and be supported by me.
God gives man kin
To test his patience;
God gives man friends
To reward him.
Siblings all, you are my friends -
Gifts from God,
Not kin by blood -
And you gave my life meaning.
Fall and winter, 1991:
You came to me in friendship,
As alone in superiority
As I in fear and shyness.
Siblings all, I value you
And your love and caring -
Through time and trouble
We grew up together.
Spring of 1983:
You came from similar roots
As I came also
And we learned together.
Siblings all, I pray for you
In the lives you have chosen -
We are adults now,
And we must always choose.
Spring of 1985:
You were closest to me
Of all my friends -
Then you took your life.
Siblings all, I sing of you
In joy for the life we share,
And for past and present
Molding our future.
Summer of 1987:
You are my husband's friend
And I love you well,
Though we have just met.
Siblings all, you comfort me
And have throughout the years;
Friends from God, I love you -
One and all, forever.
God gives man gifts
For man to use;
Let us use His gifts with joy,
And not abuse them.
For Edward, Carrie, Rick, Barry, and all the friends I have ever had.
