Dear God, we tie a ribbon
As a prayer to bring them home
From a duty they must do,
For a time that's yet unknown.
We tie a yellow ribbon
As a silent pledge to them
To support the work they're doing
In every way we can.
Dear God, we tie a ribbon
For a prayer we know you hear
To return the men and women
To the hearts who hold them dear.
We tie a yellow ribbon
As a wish to end the war
And to reunite the families
In the love they've known before.

For the Persian Gulf War.
