Black and white,
Wrong and right,
Evil and good,
Are not.
Gray alone,
Mediocrity,
Humanity,
Can be.
When I was a child
I knew that right was right.
I knew that good was good.
The world was black and white.
Now I am grown,
And I have learned
That there are shades of gray
In every aspect of every day.
No more the battle
Of dark and light -
No more the clear-cut line
To show the way.
The world exists in shades of gray,
Where right and wrong combine,
To give us choices in our lives,
To make us grow in wisdom.
