Alone in the night
So lost without you
Awaiting a message
Some word of your love.
Fevered with worry
Praying so heartfelt
Needing the safety
Of your loving arms.
Drowning in silence
In frigid darkness
Seking a spark
Of warmth in your love.
So many demons
Of doubt press upon me
Coming unbidden
They question your love.
Striving for patience
For calm reassurance
Huddled near panic
I wait for my love.
What can have happened?
The question burns in me.
What has befallen
The man that I love?
Still I sit waiting
Silently praying
Knowing no earthly power
Can harm our love.
