1983
When we, the children, have grown old,
When the earth is older still,
When all things to al end do come,
Then will be the time.
When we are dead a thousand years,
When even our world is dead,
When children cannot run and play,
Then will be the time.
When the children do not shout,
When people see only death,
When schools and churches and homes are gone,
Then will be the time.
When all things fine are crushed and gone,
When love is obsolete,
When flowers cannot bloom again,
Then will be the time.
Then the heroes of ages past,
The gods and mortal men,
When they come the earth will sing,
And then will be the time.
The time for love and song and dance,
The time for all things fine,
The time for words and thoughts of joy,
Then will be the time.
