We, the people, fuss and fume,
Though our lives bring gathering doom,
We're not content,
As the other beasts are,
To live, and live, and live again.
We fight destiny,
And we wrestle fate.
We can't accept
The way things are,
We do forget
That we, the people, made them so!
So let us stop this crazy race
To be the first
To create
Total death!
Let's take a lesson from the beasts.
Let's relax . . .
And live!

For Barry, who taught me years later to heed the wisdom of my words, and to live at peace and in joy with the things of Nature.
