Lonely child of the Fates,
Travelling life's weary road,
Apart from man's atrocities,
Yet bearing Wisdom's load.
The world I see through child-eyes,
Grief-tinged ere I be grown;
The innocence of infancy
No adult man doth own.
I travel through the void of thought,
Memory-lit since race emerged;
The mind deific of mankind
For all time never purged.
Parent-child of the Gods
Since sunlight first made day
Hath held the secret of the past
In racial minds to stay.
When future cometh with the dawn,
And history fills the night,
Then shall man's memory grow once more
As is his racial right.
For Jean Auel and all of Earth's Children with thanks for giving us their future for our present.
