Like petals floating in a mired pond,
like chaff that blows upon the sorm,
Like sunlight piercing a leaden sky,
So do friends make cold days warm.
The petals float and then do sink,
The chaff is blown, but comes to earth,
The sunlight shines through encroaching haze,
But friendship ever keeps its worth.
Petals feed the growing bulbs,
And chaff grows high the golden grain,
And sunlight scatters far the clouds,
And friendship ever comes again.
