Thunder, rain, storming down,
The weather sings my tears away.
The pitter-pat and crashing boom
End a rare and happy day.
Happy still when rain comes down
In this parching, Southern land,
Cooling earth and air and mind,
Helping souls to understand.
Rain from God is sent as blessing,
Tho' God's children curse the rain.
This one child of the Father
Thanks her God for ease of pain.
Fond reminder of my home
Comes concealed in falling rain.
Sunshine thoughts of home soon coming
Give me hope for joy again.
