King Biscuit Flower Hour Presents
Uriah Heep

The Story Behind The Pictures

OK, here's the scoop... in April?? (1997), Ken wrote me and said that King Biscuit was looking for unreleased pics of the band in that timeframe, and could we help?

Sure we could... I posted a note to the list, and we had like 4-5 days I think to get this done.

Richard Wagner had sent me some pics someone in Austria that had been taken in '74 and also I knew Rod (Rodrigo Werneck) had a bunch.

King Biscuit had contacted me both via e-mail, and at work... you can imagine the face of the guy in my office when the secretary said, "Someone from King Biscuit is on the phone for you."!!!

It turned out that I could account for all the ones that Biscuit had chosen to use, so they didn't want to use any that had been released before.

So... now it gets interesting...

I contacted Rod, and Richard via e-mail at about 6-7 at night, my time. I asked them if they had anything un-published.

Lo' and behold, within an hour or so, I had a bunch from Rod. Richard was asleep in Germany by then !

I took Rod's pic's, and some I dressed up (changed colors, sharpened, blurred whatever), and some I left alone. You'll note Mick looks a bit purple on the back cover...

That night, I e-mailed 17 pics to King Biscuit, and they called me the next day!

All the ones they wanted to use from the e-mail batch were personal pics taken by fans, and NONE had been published. Some from Rich, Rod, and me, and Brian Chalmers ...

The entire episode from initial e-mail to the e-mail to Biscuit was about 2 hours...

Not too bad! ...and very fitting that the internet was used to transport the pics!

I only asked them to note The Heepsters On The Web, and www.uriah-heep.com. They told me that they wanted to than us by name as well! So I said ...OK!!!
