Battery Hentig

This battery of two 3-inch guns on pedestal mounts was named for Captain Edmund C. Hentig who was killed by Apache Indians at Cibicu Creek, Arizona in 1881.

Battery Dodd

This battery of two 4.7-inch Armstrong quick firing guns was originally located on the old fort next to Battery Torbert. Built in 1898, that was only a temporary position and the guns were later moved to a permanent position outside the fort. The permanent battery was named for Colonel (brevet Brig Gen) Levi A. Dodd who commanded a Pennsylvania volunteer regiment during the Civil War. He left the service in 1865 and died in 1901. The guns and pedestal mounts were removed by 1921.
