Nickelback
By:Derek
It all started when Mike Kroeger
worked at Starbucks and he constantly said do you want your nickel back.
Awards
Nickelback has won six Juno Awards, four Billboard Awards and went up for
four Grammy nominations and tons of radio accreditation mostly because of
their song “How You Remind Me”. One of the Juno Awards was for 2003
songwriter of the year. Nickelback was also named number one played band on
the radio in 2002. After their song “How You Remind Me”, Nickelback wrote
two more #1 rock songs “Too bad” and “Never Again”. Chad won the 2002 MTV
video music award for the song “Hero” (from the movie Spiderman).
Their Music
Nickelback has a some great albums like their new and favorite “The
Long Road”. They also have “Silver Side Up”, “The State” and “Curb” and a
lot of awesome songs like “How You Remind Me”, “Too bad”, and “Never Again”.
Nickelback does a lot of their music recording in the Greenhouse studios or
Chad’s studio in Vancouver.
The Band
Mike Kroeger (the bassist) was born June 25,1972, two years later his
younger brother Chad Kroeger (singer/guitarist and main song writer) was
born on November 15,1974, they grew up in a town called Hanna, Alberta. The
other band members Ryan Vikdel and Ryan Peake lived in Brooks, Alberta, but
at that time they didn’t know each other existed. Ryan Peake (guitarist) was
born March 1, 1973, he has been playing guitar since he was 14 and Ryan
Vikdel (drummer) was born May 9, 1975. The band came together when, Ryan P.
moved to Hanna and happen to meet up with the Kroeger brothers. Ryan V. has
just recently just left the band, so Nickelback hired a new drummer Daniel
Adair. He used to play in the band 3 Doors Down.
We should be proud to have such talent in our country.
