Resurrection Myth This myth borrows again from Baal, the Canaanite storm/agriculture god, who died and was reborn each year. Stolen also is the myth of the Norse god Odin, who hung from the world tree for 9 days, pierced through the side by a spear. The earliest book of the New Testament, Mark, originally contained no story of Jesus's appearance after death. It seems this myth was a later edition to the body of Biblical mythology, likely to give weight to the concept of Jesus being the son of God.
