Why I Dislike Christianity I need to explain that I do not hate the religion, I merely dislike it, and for several reasons. I will begin with the least of my grievances and work my way up. 1. Christianity is so far removed from it's origin as to be unrecognizable to it's earlier practitioners. Christians fail to realize, and refuse to acknowledge, their pagan origins. If they would study the history of their faith, they would witness the plagarisms from the Baalite religion, and grasp the fact that their's was once a polytheistic faith. Perhaps then they would lay off the "One True God" bit. 2. Christians seek to force their morality down other people's throats. Can't Christians perform good deeds and acts of charity without God telling them to? Is their morality so rotten that they must be threatened with hell fire to stop them from murdering, raping, stealing, and committing other illegal acts? Can they not be friendly, hospitable, polite neighbors without some unseen father figure bribing them with the candies of heaven? Are they really unaware of the fact that many atheists and agnostics don't do these things, not because they subscribe to superstitious delusions, but simply because these things are wrong? We don't NEED your morality, we have our own. 3. Christianity stands in the way of technological progress, condenming genetic engineering, cloning, and with some extreme cults, the use of medicine. These developements can enhance, prolong, and enrich life, and these clowns say it's wrong! They say we play God. Why shouldn't we play God, we created him. Would we have protested Shakespeare playing Hamlet? 4. Many Christians urge, and sometimes succeed in, teaching creation rather than evolution in public schools. Have they never heard of separation of church and state? Some Christians are so afraid of evolution that they substitue the word "adaptation" while discussing it, blind to the fact that in the context they imply, it means EXACTLY THE SAME THING! They appear to either be ignorant to the fact, or could care less, that ALL science supports evolution, from geology to molecular biology. The damage potential of creationism is incredible. Any science which does not support creationism must be thrown out, no matter how concrete that science is. This is evidenced by the Kansas decision to edit geology textbooks to fit the dogma of creationism. Christian creationists are obviously willing to reduce us to an intellectual Dark Ages to support this insanity.
