Each religion has some idea of how the universe came to be. Each creates a myth or series of myths in order to better understand this first cause.

In Wicca, a brief outline of a general Creation myth is as follows: First there was nothing, then the Goddess was formed out of this nothing. She then devided Herself into Herself, the Moon, and Her Brother/Son, the Sun. She then persued Him and through deception, caught Him, slept with Him and became pregnant by Her other half. This pregnancy resulted in the Cosmic Egg which was studied and eventually opened and from which all things in the universe, and the universe itself, came. The God and Goddess then continued to make love regularly and She often became pregnant, thus giving birth to many other life forms and planets.
Keep in mind that this is only a very brief outline of the basic Craft Creation Myth. The originals are considerably longer and more poetic. However, this will serve to mention a few points.

As the Goddess was the first created, She is obviously the more important of the Gods. This is reflected in the Craft's attitude towards women in general, which encourages and demands equality between the sexes. In most Craft Traditions, a Coven cannot exist without a High Priestess in remembrance of this fact.
The Goddess did not give birth to the God, but devided Herself into Herself and Her other self who was the God. This places the God on an equal footing with the Goddess, even though she is first among equals. Thus again encouraging sexual equality among people with women having an important say in matters.

As the universe was born and not created, we are aware that creation of anything is the result of two important opposite and complimentary forces. Thus, to create anything, poem, art, technical device, live, you must be aware that a balance of opposites within and without are necessary. Neither force by itself is possible just as neither man nor woman is complete without the other.
Creation is ongoing, not the result of one accident that occurred and ended. Thus matter and life will always come into existence and the universe itself will continue over and over again, constantly renewing itself, recreating itself, replacing itself. Even if the Universe should run out of energy, collapse and reform the cosmic egg in thirty or forty trillion years, it will again recreate itself as the God and Goddess wish. Thus, there is no reason to search for a Doomsayer in the Book of Shadows as there is no threat or fear of the 'end of the world". Wiccans do not look forward to an eventual end of the material world which will judge some and not others for the Creation Myths emphasizes that there is no real ending. Thus instead of looking forward to a future paradise, we should concentrate on making the Earth a living paradise.
Further, the Wiccan Creation Myths indicate that sexual activity is not only necessary, but enjoyable, thus allowing us to engage in sexual activity that others may say is 'only to be used for reproduction', only we can enjoy intercourse for the fun of it. Again, as the Goddess persued the God, so should women have the choice of whom and when to bed. This removes some of the sexual pressure from the male and encourages women to be complete people, acknowledging her own needs, desires and feelings. As the God initially refused the Goddess, it allows man to accept that he may not always feel like having sex, and avoid some of the cultural stereotypes that state that a man must 'always be ready to perform. '
Wiccan Creation myths encourage the equality between the genders and accept that both sexes can have attitudes that ate traditionally male or female, thus encouraging a better relationship between men and women.
