Crowders is what is called a "Karst Window". A Karst window is a cave where the ceiling of a room or passagewy has fallen in , exposing it to the elements, and allowing us a "window" to look through, or in cavers cases, climb through. :o) |

As you can see from these pictures some of the formations are still intact. However, due to being exposed to the elements, they now possess a stone- like structure.
Remember- Formations take tens of thousands of years to form. Never touch or harm them if it can be avoided.

A note to our viewers- if someone ever says lights are optional- don't belive them!
We were told that by our "fearless leader" on this trip. So I was the only one who brought a flashlight. Well, Sean & I decided to explore the passageway off the room, and wouldn't you know it, the Flashlight Died! It's no fun to get 2 people out with 1 Bic lighter! For once I was thankful I smoke! Remember- always carry a backup light!!!! |
