A MESSAGE FROM...
  OUR WORSHIPFUL MASTER...

Brethren,
At our January stated meeting, a number of committees were announced for the year.   These committees will be very active this year, as we 'get back to the basic' work of the Lodge.   Exciting things are happening in our Lodge, we are becoming good stewards with the Lodge's money, updating the By-Laws of our Lodge, upgrading our computer systems, preparing a possible web site and most importantly, learning the lectures and offering assistance to our 'worthy distressed brothers.'   I want to thank chaplain, Bob Clement, for attending funerals, being available to visit the sick and afflicted, and always representling DeSoto Lodge in such a Godly manner.
King David's desire to build the Temple was commended of God for his desire, but forbidden to carry it into reality because 'he had been a man of war'   A period of peace anad prosperity was necessary for the construction of this type building, however, God assured David that his son Solomon should build the temple.   (See II Samuel, Chapter 7)   As King David prepared for his son's future, we should remember the shining moment between Past and Future is what we call NOW.
Over the years, we have been fortunate to have the "Pappy Warner Fund" to help up.   However, this fund needs replenishing, therefore, I renew Past Master Swayne Merrell's challenge to give at least $20.00 each year to this fund.   Mosy of us could give that and some may even be able to give more.   Let our spirit of Brotherhood look upward to Heaven for inspiration and then put forth an extra effort to attend Lodge often that we might reap the rewards of involvement.

                                                                                               Faternally,
                                                                                                Jim Nichols, Sr., WM

You will find, as you look back upon your life, that the moments that stand out are the moments when you have done things for others.

Humility is the most difficult of all virtues to achieve; nothing dies harder than the desire to think well of oneself.

H.C. 'Pappy' Warner Fund

Several Brothers have accepted PM Merrell's challenge that was issued last month and have already donated to the Pappy Warner Fund, and others have given donations.   Those donating include: Jim Nichols, Morgan Fowler, David King, Cecil Dickens, Joe Martz, Richard Brown, Jack Jones, C.J. Richardson, R.D. Roleson, and Mrs. Edith Carkeet.   Whay not plan now to donate to this fine fund, and have your name listed here.

Masonry isn't a religion.   A religion, as I see it, is a belief in a deity and a means of expressing worship.   Masonry recognizes Deity, and proceeds only after asking divine guidance.   But it does not specify any particular deity.   You can worship any God you please and be a Mason.   That is not true of any religion.   If you are a Buddhist, you worship Budda.   If a Christian, Christ is you Deity.   If you are a Mohammedan you are a worshipper of Allah.   In Masonary you find Christian, Jew, Mohammedan, and Buddhists side by side.

Certain thoughts are prayers.   There are moments when, whatever be the attitude of the body, a soul is on its knees.

WE HAVE ONE OBJECT IN MIND - TO IMPROVE AND MAKE WIDESPREAD OUR MASONIC TRADITIONS.
