A MESSAGE FROM...
  OUR WORSHIPFUL MASTER...

Brethren,
I want to extend my sincere appreciation for the wonderful installation of Officers we had at our Lodge on December 19, 1999.   Past Master Cecil Nappier once again did an outstanding job as the Installing Officer, and Past Master Harold Ricketts, always a faithful Brother, was great in his role of Marshall.   The sound and music provided by Senior Warden Gene Major was so touching, I really felt the Spirit of God present at this ceremony.  A special word of appreciation goes out to Frayser-Memphis Chapter #62, Order of the Eastern Star for the refreshments they provided.
Let us remember that one of the first rulings King Solomon made was regarding two mothers who both claimed to be the mother of a living baby.   When King Solomon ordered that the baby be cut in half and one half given to each woman, the real mother said, "...Oh, my Lord, give her the child and by no means kill him."   Solomon then gave the baby to the woman who loved the child enough to give him up so that he might live.   After that, all of Israel heard of the judgement which the King had rendered, and they feared Him, for they saw that he had the wisdom of God to administer justice. (I Kings 3:22-23)
Just as a baby cut in half cannot live, and a house divided cannot stand, a Lodge divided cannot live and prosper.   May we therefore all 'be of one mind, live in peace, and the God of Love and Peace delight to dewell with and bless us' as we begin our journey together for the year 2000.
Many great things are still to be accomplished at DeSoto.   All members are welcomed to participate by giving a hand and/or a word of advice.   No one will be turned away.

                                                                                               Faternally,
                                                                                               Jim Nichols, Sr., WM

Saturday, February 12, 2000, has been set as the time for our annual Valentine/Sweet-Heart's Dinner.   The time is 7:00 pm, and reservations are required.   Call now will it is fresh on your mind and get your reservation in.   No reservations can be accepted after February 8 because the food must be purchased and preparations made for this fine meal.   Also, the WM has made arrangements for a professional photographer to be on hand to make pictures.   Come, enjoy, and be part of DeSoto's 'History in the Making.'

At our January Stated Meeting, Brother Rick Perkins was re-elected to succeed himself as Trustee for a period of three years.   After having served for many years, Brother Bob Clement, PM, resigned his position as Trustee, and Brother Cecil Nappier was elected to fill the unexpired term.

Being persuaded that a just application of the principles, on which the Masonic Fraternity is founded, must be promotive of private virtue and public prosperity,   I shall always be happy to advance the interest of the Society, and to be considered by them as a deserving brother.

(These words were in a letter sent to King David's Lodge by Brother George Washington.)

WE HAVE ONE OBJECT IN MIND - TO IMPROVE AND MAKE WIDESPREAD OUR MASONIC TRADITIONS.
