A MESSAGE FROM...
OUR WORSHIPFUL MASTER...

Brethren,
The DeSoto Lodge Baseball Night-Out was a grand success.   There were over 70 people who took us up on our night out at the ballpark.   We all received baseballs as we entered the stadium, which pleased all of our younger attendees.   The food and condiments must have been good because according to the Redbirds concession people our group consumed over: 175 hotdogs, 125 bags of potato chips, 6 gallons of coleslaw and 8 gallons of baked beans.   They were unable to tell me how much soft drinks were consumed, however it is safe to say that everyone had their fill of food and drink, and none went away hungry or thirsty.   The game was a close one with the Redbirds making a run for it in the ninth inning, but coming up short.   The New Orleans Zephers won 3-2.   Our members not only got to see a great ball game but they saw some fantastic fireworks.   If you were upset about the game the spectacular fireworks more than made up for it.   They were absolutely great.
Brother Jimmy Dale Stafford's name was drawn from the Fish Bowl.   The drawing was worth $150, however Brother Stafford was not present to win.   The $150 will roll over to the October Stated Meeting making the Fish Bowl Drawing worth $200.   In our Stated Meeting Dinner Drawing Byron Wilkinson, PM won the Grand Prize, which was a $50 Gift Certificate to Dillard's Department Store.   Other drawing winners were Joan Martz, Don Brown, PM; Amel Petterson, Reva Brown and Joseph Oxandale.   Our Grand Prize for the October Stated Meeting Dinner Drawing will be a $50 Gift Certificate to the Out Back Steak House.   The theme for our October Stated Meeting Dinner will be Italian with an accompaniment of delicious deserts.   Suggestions are requested for the November Stated Meeting Dinner theme.   We can always use more participants, so please contact the Junior Warden Dennis Pope or the First Lady Mary Cook if you would like to participant.
Past Masters and Officers; don't forget the Senior Warden's Dinner.   The dinner will be held on Monday, September 23rd at 6:30 pm at Anderton's Restaurant.   Please call the secretary to make your reservations.   Next year is shaping up to be a great year for our Lodge, so be there for the announcements.

                                                                                Faternally,
                                                                                Tim Cook, WM

Baseball Family Night-Out

As you can tell from the above photograph we had a lot of people at the buffet and ball game.   We tried to get everyone into the picture but as you can see they wouldn't fit.   There were over 70 people who attended the buffet and game.   Everyone had a great time and loved the spectacular fireworks after the game.

Food for thought - Did you know !!

"Masonry isn't a religion.   A religion, as I see it, is a belief in a deity and a means of expressing worship.   Masonry recognizes Deity, and proceeds only after asking divine guidance.   But it does not specify any particular deity.   You can worship any God you please and be a Mason.   That is not true of any religion.   If you are a Buddhist, you worship Budda.   If a Christian, Christ is you Deity.   If you are a Mohammedan you are a worshipper of Allah.   In Masonary you find Christian, Jew, Mohammedan and Buddhists side by side."

Senior Warden's Officers Meeting

The Senior Warden's Officers Meeting will be held on Monday, September 23rd, at 6:30 pm at Anderton's Restaurant located at 1901 Madison Avenue.   All Past Masters and Officers are invited, however we do need a head count so please call the Secretary at 529-4025.   We had a very productive meeting last year with very good suggestions from the Past Masters.   The Senior Warden is hoping for the same large turnout and enthusiasm this year.   Please get your reservations in early.
