DURAN DURAN BIRMINGHAM SCENE |
|||||||||||
The scene in Birmingham now is really leagues ahead of the scene in London. The Birmingham scene is a lot bigger. I've been to The Venue and Blitz and it's so small. Imean, you know those faces now and they're always printed in the Telegraph, or whatever it is, the colour supplements, and Its always the same people". So says Nick Rhodes, keyboards player and engagingly bitchy member of Duran Duran, the Birmingham band whose infectious debut single "Planet Earth" marks the first serious assault from the provinces on London's glam club monopoly.. The Birmingham poser scene, say the band, is not only bigger but has been going longer too. Inevitably, because Duran Duran are digging the same seam as Spandau Ballet and Visage, it is tempting to suggest that they have jumped on to the latest bandwagon led by London THE FACE - 1981 |
