Sant Ramdas was born in the Jalna District of Maharashtra. He became a sanyasi after leaving his home when his marriage was about to take place. He composed many books which are widely read even today. Some of his books are - Dasbodha, Manobodha, Ramayana. He was a very practical saint. He writes in Dasbodha that Adwaita Siddhanta is not foolishness. He who does not see any difference in two different things is a stupid. He asked people to understand the merit of intelligent decision making and hard work. Samarth Ramdas Swami says that if the community has a respectable and secured place then only its members can have a spiritual existence. He did the task of mass awakening against the foreign rulers. He was the Political Guru of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. He established maths and constructed temples at many places in Maharashtra. It will be very apt to call him a nationalist saint.
