I'll see the Great Maker burn for this. Who's with me? True it was a noble sacrifice, made for the woman he loved, but where does that leave Marcus Cole fans? I really feel that Babylon 5 lost its most appealing, loveable character through this misguided plot device. He may not have had such an important role as Sheridan or Delenn, but at least Marcus had his faults along with his good points. John and Delenn were idealised characters, and their relationship was too sugary sweet for words. I can't help but think that JMS was so in love with their characters, that no one else could get a fair go. Sigh. But on a (relatively) brighter note, all hope is not lost. After all, they brought Sheridan back from the dead, didn't they? Anna too. And if saving a life is as simple as hooking up to a machine, then who's to say what may happen in the future? (Or more precisely, what may happen in our fanfic?) What can I say? I'm a hopeless optimist.
