Hal at Richmond and Fredericksburg
27th - 28th July 2006

The first show in Richmond at Carey Street Café was a real treat. It was a very small venue – it reminded me of hanging out at one of my local watering holes in New York. There were about 40 people in total – and everyone was truly enjoying Hal’s performance and also The Mighty Fine Kenny Grimes – it was just the two of them. I got to hear a new song “Fly” that he said he wrote just a few days ago - it was about a man trying to decide whether to get married or not – it was really good – especially the ending! He also did “The Alamo” song. One special touch Hal did was dedicating a song to a man’s brother who died two months ago in Iraq – for that he sang “Satisfied Mind” - it was really touching.

The second show was at the Expo Center in Fredericksburg where Hal opened up for John Michael Montgomery. It was a large venue – especially after the night before – 1,500 people. Hal received a standing ovation – and why wouldn’t he?!

Here are some pictures – enjoy!
