Parth- Pop about 600 but quickly growing
Founded by Lord and Lady Mygin about 600 years ago, 25 generations
Named after Lady Mygin, whose first name was Parth. The name means “Part of/ Noble to, the gods”
Parth is the most beautiful city in all of Palladia. Found in the most mild part of the western lands in the center of the Gray Peninsula. It is located right next to beautiful Swan Lake, which yields my water fowl for the locals.
The population is 99% human with maybe a stray elf or two. The people are noble and friendly. The official language is Western, which everyone speaks; about 40% also speak Elven, 25% speak Southern and 10% Sign language. Literacy is high about 80%; about 75% can write in Western, 35% can write in Elven and about 10% in Southern.
Parth is a trading town located on a major trading route. About 65% are merchants of some kind, 5% are also enlisted in Parth’s army, which is united with the armies of Blue Lake Town and Den Oaks to form “The Gray Kingdom” named after the Gray Peninsula. No farms are located in the area.
The “School of Emon” is located in the center of Parth. About 200, ten to twenty year olds attend it. It is co-ed but there are about 10 boys to every girl there. Many of the students will become Palladins, Knights and Scholars.
There is No magic in parth, most people respect magic and it’s users but do not practice it themselves. About 2% of the population has minor psionics.
Most people in Parth worship Emon, about 70%. About 20% worship one of the churches of Taut and some 5% or so worship Dragonright (once a very popular religion, after the dragons attacked without apparent reason the majority of the people left converted to Emon).
Holidays in Parth:
Jan 1, New Year. Everyone has feasts at home and gives gifts the their family. The king gives a speech on the past year and the up coming one.
Feb 28, Candy Day. All stores give away lots of candy to everyone and the people trade candy with their friends. This is to celebrate the day when the mountain pass to Den Oaks was first cleared for trading, although it is still extremely dangerous to this day.
April 13, The Attack of the Dragons. Not an real holiday, but most people put flowers on the gravestones of the people they lost on that horrible friday the 13th when dragons attacked and killed half the people in Parth and there beloved ruler, King Knorith the 3rd.
July 8, The day of New Births. Everyone parties and feasts and one of the three Kings holds a mighty Ball (they rotate who holds it each year). The day when the three kings from Parth, Den Oaks and Blue Lake Town formed the “Gray Kingdom” in the year -89. Together joining their small armies to form one powerful one to protect the prized trading routes between them. Trading then boomed and the wealth of each city grew.
Nov 7, Swan Day. Every one picnics at the edge of swan lake. There is also a festival of music, food and dancing down by the lake. No one knows how this go started but no one really cares, it’s a light hearted day for all.
Update: Year 10, Population 780
After the dragon attack killed King Knorith and split the population in half, the princes Theveus and Thuven left with Ramsea. Thuven was never seen again. Theveus came back with Ramsea and helped the only remaining heir the the throne of Parth, run away to Tritonii with a wandering Palladin. She died less than five years after, of an unknown disease. She had one child, a boy, who’s location is unknown. Ramsea and Theveus were never seen again.
Now Parth is ruled by Knorith’s widow, Queen Diela. In the event of her death, Knorith’s younger brother Prince Chesher will get the throne passing on to his eldest son, Dardinous. Unless the Lost Prince is found, where as the kingdom would be his.
