I’ve felt each slow perversion fosters,
Dying, killing the truth in me.
Gone quietly. Gone completely cold.
Remember what you tried to be.
Moist -- Better Than You

Ken’s POV

“Ken, do you even know where we’re going?”Miyako inhaled sharply, pulling strands of lavender hair from her eyes. In our slight fit of determination, we charged out of Gennai’s, without fully going over any type of plan in any sense. Needless to say, we were charging in blind.

But I inhaled shakily, touching my heart with my hand as a faint smile managed to curve itself on my face. “I don’t know how to explain this Miyako, but I can just sense him. He’s everywhere… it’s so hard to describe…”I trailed off, shaking my head softly. “But I know he’s over there.”

I pointed to our left, continuing on as we passed by a freshly built Control Spire. I gazed at the highly reflective black surface shuddering, feeling instantly cold. A shiver passed up and down my spine as I averted my stare, trying to forget that part of my past. But for some reason, I wished that I were still the Emperor. At least then the Digidestined would be still alive and they wouldn’t be wandering around like they are now.

I turned my head to the right slightly, catching a glimpse of Mimi. Her usually sparkling eyes were dull and empty. Totally devoid of any feeling. They just sat on her tear stained face like hollow holes. Every single inch of her radiated grief and fear. She knew she was next. And we couldn’t help her in any way. We all basically had to stand back and hand her to Daisuke. She would have to die, just like the others.

“Stop staring Ken, it’s a bad habit.”She muttered to me, quickening her pace so she stood beside my slender frame. I slung my head, casting a quick, reassuring smile at her.

“I’m sorry Mimi, I didn’t…”

“Don’t bother explaining.”She sighed. “Get a good look at me Ken, this might be the only time you ever see me alive again. And please, don’t say anything about being bitter, because if you do I will personally gut you. I have a right to be miserable right now.”

“We’re going to stop this.”I promised her.

“It’ll be too late for me by then. But Ken please for the love of God do me one last favor. If by some miracle this ends and you new children are still alive, tell him. Please just tell him. If you don’t you’re literally going to regret it for the rest of your life. You know how it’s supposed to be. Make it happen. For me.”

I silently nodded my head, gulping rather loudly at her request. She smiled, a slight smile of hers that always made me feel better and slowly exhaled quivering. I couldn’t even begin to fathom what this must have been like for her. Just the knowledge that we were all going to die eventually scared me. But knowing that you were going to die at any minute must have been like hell.

I stopped her in her tracks by placing my hand on her shoulder and she looked up into my lavender eyes, then completely broke down. I grabbed onto her frail frame, hugging her for dear life as she cried on my shirt. I combed my slender fingers precariously through her soft hair, muttering soft words of reassurance. Out of all the Digidestined, seeing her go would hurt me the most. She was one of the only ones that always stuck up for me, believing in me and encouraging me to do things I was positive I couldn’t.

“Mimi, I’m going to protect you.”I promised her as she looked up at me, shaking her head disapprovingly.

“Even if you do manage to do that, you know you can’t. I have to go Ken. And please, don’t be so sad for me. Like Gennai said, I’ll be alive, but in another section of the world. And I’ll be with Sora again.”She smiled weakly, giving me one final squeeze.

“But I don’t want you to go…”I trailed off, clutching onto her like a life preserver. “What am I going to do without you in my life?”

“Manage. You have to Ken. But to keep you positive, the sooner you defeat Tasuimon, the sooner you and Daisuke will be together. I know you’ve wanted that for years now, so make sure that it happens this time.”I chuckled softly, pushing a piece of stray hair out of my eyes. “Ken, my mom told me this a long time ago. Everybody has a purpose in life. I guess mine was to die for the Digital World.”

“But…” I started to debate a bit stubbornly but was cut off as I saw a blinding ball of energy shot right for us. Without even thinking, I pushed Mimi down, falling ungracefully on top of her. Sand shot out of the ground like a geyser had just erupted and we braced ourselves as the mountains of sand spilled out on us.

“You missed love.”Tasuimon’s voice echoed. I scowled as I stood up, shaking the sand out of my hair and off my clothes. “Well, if it isn’t the annoying child of Light. I hope you’re all ready to die today.”

“Please,” Daisuke smirked, “stop this mindless jabber. I don’t have much time left.”He sighed, rubbing the side of his head with the tips of his fingers. From the ground, Mimi pushed herself up, glaring at Daisuke with undisguised hatred in her eyes.

“I know what you have to do and I know I’m next Daisuke. But if you even have a heart in you, you’ll stop this madness!”she shouted out, clenching her fist tightly.

“Maybe I should inform you I don’t.”his eyes became slits in his head as he glared at her with fury written on every line of his face. “And even if I did, why would I want you alive?”

“Because we’re your friends!”she snapped, stamping her foot in the sand in a self-righteous manner. Almost at once Daisuke left Tasuimon’s side and made his way over to Mimi, staring down at the shorter girl. Both of us were far to petrified to even move, let alone run.

“If I had friends, then why am I like this?”he seemed to whisper to her with a new emotion in his eyes. Regret. “If you all cared about me so much, then why couldn’t you stop this?”

“We can’t play God Daisuke. This was supposed to happen, but we can’t fix it. Only you can if you let us help you.”She explained in her soothing voice, letting her hand rest peacefully on is cheek. For a moment, he recoiled at the touch, but soon melted into it, shutting his eyes in remembrance.

When his eyes opened, they were Daisuke’s eyes looking back at us. I would be able to recognize those orbs of mahogany anywhere. He smiled at us with his carefree nature and copied Mimi’s motion in a child like manner. Very slowly, hesitantly, experimentally. Mimi smiled when his hand was on her cheek, looking up at him with unshed tears of happiness. “I know you have a soul in there Daisuke.”She whispered.

“I know too,”he choked, “and that’s why I’m so sorry.”He almost sobbed as his touch became noticeable harsher and he snapped her neck to the side. She buckled under him as he grabbed her shoulders, gently lying her down in the sand before walking away.

I tried to stand but my legs caved in on me as I hit the sand with a piercing thud, collecting her limp body in my hands. Her head lobbing to the side like a wilted flower. I cried for her even after she had begun to delete and even more as Miyako screamed in pain, clutching her chest. At least she was whole again.

I felt a strong hand on my shoulder pick me up, as Joe helped me stand, numbly stepping backward to the others. No matter how many times we would see it, it was still new to us. Seeing one of us die was something we could never get accustomed to. Every time was the first time over and over again.

Out of nowhere, Miyako stepped in front of me. She was different. You could feel it radiating off her, just pulsating beneath her skin. Not to mention that her hair had suddenly became a darker shade of purple. The mixture of cotton candy pink and fiery red to be exact. Once she turned to look at me, her face had become softer, almost angelic and determined. A perfect combination of Sora’s tenacity and Mimi’s never-ending beauty.

She turned to face Joe with a fluid movement, shimmering with a grace that screamed out Mimi and she hugged him. “It’s okay now.”She told him, pulling back only to smile.

He nodded, as if understanding and held his head up high. “I know. At least he’s still there in him.”

I looked over at Iori who was still gazing at the ground in shock. His emerald eyes were wide and uncomprehending, adding to his look of totally innocence. He glanced over at Joe and myself, opening his mouth as if to say something, but quickly shut it, a complete loss of words.

“Joe, I’m sorry I couldn’t help you all out sooner.”I told him as he glimpsed down at me, smirking a tad.

“No, I’m sorry Ken. I know this isn’t your fault. Just promise me you’ll take care of him. Even though he might not look it, the only person that I ever really loved is in him.”

I nodded in agreement, running at full speed over to where Iori and Miyako now were. Kari was hugging onto Tk, sobbing in his arms as he looked at the surroundings unable to say anything, literally. His azure eyes were swollen with tears as his brother began walking forward.

“Just get it over with Daisuke, don’t toy with me.”Joe seemed to spit out as his black eyes went cold. The brown haired boy stopped in his walk back to Tasuimon and spun around on his heels.

“As you wish.”He stated plainly, forming a long blade of yellow light in his palm. “Spike Shot.”He winced, launching the deadly attack straight at Joe. The blue haired boy stood tall, ready to brace the attack head on.

“NO!” Matt screamed as he lunged, tackling Joe to the ground. “We can’t give into him! We have to keep fighting! If we all say alive we can do this! We can’t give up!”he shouted out, grasping at his arm where the blade had made a clean slice. A slow river of blood cascaded off his injured arm as he growled, staring at Daisuke with his unforgiving eyes.

But the second Matt stood up, Daisuke hit the ground, clutching at his chest painfully, coughing madly. “You fool!”Tasuimon snapped out, dropping to the ground beside her fallen lover. Her dark blue hair veiled him like a protective blanket. “His attack is poisonous! You just infected yourself!”

Iori, standing far back shrieked out in pain as well. His voice holding so much agony it made me choke. My eyes parted from Daisuke over to Joe, who was still slumped over in the ground from where Matt had tackled him. He was unmoving and even from the distance I was, I could make out the small pool of blood that was forming around him and I didn’t miss the squares the started flying about, scattering in the wind. The attack had hit him…

“Daisuke!” Tasuimon almost sobbed, collecting him in her slender arms. He stood, free of aide but began to wobble around like a top, not completely sure what was happening.

“What’s wrong with him?!”Kari screeched as panic began to well up inside her.

“You idiot!”Tasuimon snapped again. “His attack is poisonous!” Matt’s wide sapphire eyes opened in shock as he looked down at his arm, which was already turning a purple color. He looked over at Daisuke in horror, shaking his head as he held onto his wounded arm.

Without so much as mentioning another word, she wrapped her arms around him and disappeared in a blur of bright green light. We are left there, standing speechless as Matt suddenly went pale and Iori had to help him to stand. The small boy going through the same changes as Miyako did, suddenly becoming the better half of the two.

His hair was Joe’s deep navy color and he had Izzy’s look of intelligence that surrounded him. His eyes were still his deep emerald but there were black craw marks that seemed to give him this wild look, going perfectly with Izzy’s never neat hairstyle. His height had increased and now was only about three inches shorter than Tk.

“Matt!” Kari cried out in pain as she clutched onto Tk’s shirt tightly, sobbing hysterically now. The boy looked at her and shook his head, then looked over at his brother, refusing to cry.

“We have to get out of here.”Matt choked, coughing up a bit of blood before passing out completely. His entire body seemed so fragile at that moment and I never really noticed that the Digidestined were still only human. No matter what we faced, as a team we were invincible. But as individuals, we lacked what another made up for. Now that we were going extinct, we saw this more clearly than ever. We saw through all our tough exteriors and we were broken down into weak, suffering humans…

“Ken, come on!”Iori called out to us as I stared back at him, following obediently. My feet seemed a blur even to myself as I ran. “We have to get Matt to safety! Tasuimon will be after him now! She needs him alive until tonight!”

I nodded, helping Tk with Matt’s limp form, wincing slightly at the color his skin had become. Pink from the infection but it was swelling blue and purple and green. His entire arm was like that and I could see through his shirt his neck had been affected too. It was only a matter of time before the poison started to seep into his lungs.

“I don’t think so Digidestined!”Tasuimon snapped viciously as she reappeared in front of us. Her eyes were blazing with fury. “I haven’t come this far to lose to a bunch of pathetic clones!”

“Face it Tasuimon, we won. Daisuke will be complete and we’ll have won!”Kari barked back in a bitter voice that even shocked me. “I knew about all this long before it happened and I was foolish enough to believe that I could fix it all by myself! I won’t let you get away with this!”

“But you’re wrong Kari, you see, I’ve already won. I have Daisuke all locked up, protected inside our fortress and he’ll pull through this. There’s only two hours till the Dendrite Moon and your friend is strong. He’ll live and then Daisuke will be born again!”

“Over my dead body!”I snarled. “We’re going to save him!”

“But then you’ll have to kill him,”she seemed to giggle, “it’s a lose-lose situation either way Ken and you know this. You know things the bearer of Light doesn’t.”she laughed again, walking over to Iori and Tk who were carrying Matt. Her dark blue hair kicked up around her as her pale lavender eyes flared crimson and you could feel your flesh crawling at the power that was surging off her.

“Don’t come a step closer.”Iori warned as Tasuimon began to walk closer to Matt and he fearlessly stood in front of both Matt and Tk, protecting them. “I’m a lot stronger now Tasuimon we all are.”

“Ah, so the bearer of Valiance makes his appearance.”She mocked in a cold tone. “And Honesty, why, I’m absolutely honored.”The sarcasm was dripping from her voice.

“Leave Tasuimon,”Miyako hissed, “if you know what’s good for you.”

She chuckled again. “You really have no idea what’s coming do you? You have absolutely no idea of the power and energy that will soon be born… in less than two hours, I won’t need to bother with any of you anymore. He’ll destroy you without even thinking.”She began to fade as she turned away, finally vanishing as we all looked at each other.

“We have to find Daisuke and we have to get to him before she can.”Kari stuttered. “I know what’s going to happen if we don’t…”she gulped. “We have to be the ones around him when the moon appears. Anyone of us!”

“Then we have to get to Tasuimon’s fortress.”Miyako stated, looking to her right. “I think I know how to get there, so let’s move!”she completely turned her back on the group and began walking in her own direction. Just as she took a step, Tk reached out to his girlfriend, who completely ignored him and stepped in line with Kari.

The hurt expression that was on his face was heartbreaking. I swallowed hard, glancing at Iori who was sighing deeply, shaking his head as he numbly walked with Miyako and Kari. I stepped up, laying my hand on his shoulder lightly. “I’m sorry Tk, but she doesn’t belong with you anymore.”My voice was so low I barely heard it. He looked away, choking back a sob that failed to stay put in its azure prison and cried bitterly with a gagging sound coming out of his wired mouth. “Don’t worry though,”I assured him, “there’s someone else that loves you more than you can even imagine.”

He didn’t look convinced as he shook his blond hair free of the tears, wiping them away angrily as he stared submissively at the ground, not tearing his eyes away from the sand. I sighed inwardly, walking close to him as we headed off in the direction Miyako was hell-bent on sending us. Matt resting lifelessly in Tk’s arms.

“There it is.”Miyako breathed in as we came into view with a palace that almost resembled mine, but had a few adjustments. The color for one, was a deep ebony stained with crimson. It resembled blood, making it appear that the red had actually seeped into the black stone. It made my skin crawl.

“How do we get in?”Kari asked quietly, shivering slightly as Miyako wrapped her arms around her, pulling her into a tight hug. Tk’s expression, if humanly possible, darkened until his eyes were so clouded over with grief and pain they didn’t even look his sapphire blue anymore.

“Someone has to stay here with Matt.”Iori reminded us all as we cast a quick glance at the dying guardian of Friendship. Hw was getting worse with every passing second. Tk raised his hand, not being able to speak and then pointed to his brother and mouth. He was pretty much useless at this point.

We all nodded in agreement and gave him a quick reassuring smile. But before we even got a meter, Iori stopped on his heels, and spun around, marching right back to Tk and pulled him into his arms. “I love you Tk.”He breathed as he kissed him deeply, trying not to cry. When he pulled away he darted off, leaving a small trail of fallen tears in his path.

Tk’s eyes were wide, there was no doubt about that. A single tear slipped out of his eye as he numbly touched his lips, shaking the entire way. I looked over at Miyako who just shook her head, looking down at Kari. ‘It had to happen’ her expression read as we followed Iori right into the fortress.

I could feel this pulling in the pit of my stomach as I entered, and it continued with me right up until the moment we all met this crossroad. There were three paths and four of us. I don’t know what possessed me to do what I did, but I darted into the one on the left, sprinting all the way until I hit a stonewall.

“My my my Ken, what guts you have.”Tasuimon’s voice echoed in the empty and dark area. I gasped for air, keeping a scowl on my face at all times. Knew she could see me.

“Where is he Tasuimon?”I demanded, smashing my fist into the wall in a fit of anger. He laughed that calculated laugh at hers, suddenly appearing in front of me.

“Like I would tell you Digidestined.”She snapped, pushing away a lock of her beautiful hair. Out of nowhere, the smell of roses appeared, almost choking me as I coughed. Suddenly, the walls that surrounded me seemed to melt, revealing a lush forest, filled with exotic flowers and mountainous trees. Various colors seemed to pop into view as the most gorgeous flowers I had ever seen began to blossom right before my eyes at an unnatural rate. I subconsciously lifted my hand to touch one of them, but a forced pulled my hand back, letting it rest lightly to my side. “Welcome to my garden Digidestined.”

“What the…”I muttered as I looked at everything. Fields of pale pink and mauve began to form, and long vines arched down, budding with yellow flowers that had blue tinting their ends. Blue and white flowers popped up to my sides as long tree leaves began to twist around the trunk, spilling down to create a nirvana.

“This is a garden,”Tasuimon began, “I like to call it my garden of good and evil. You see Ken, a very, very long time ago, I met this boy. He was the very essence of innocence and beauty, I tell you.”She smiled. “I fell in love with him and I did everything in my power to make him mine. I found him here one day and I made him a part of me. But the blinding good in his almost crushed the evil I was feeding him and he died.

“But a miracle had happened and he was brought back to me with an equal amount of evil and good. Right here, in this garden. You could see it by just looking at him. I would always wonder what type of God had created the creature before me. He was so beautiful you would say and angel sculpted him, but all in the same manner, he was so tempting you would have thought the devil had a part to do with him. I came so close to taking that unholy angel and making him mine, but you came along and stole him from me.”Her voice dripped venom.

“He’s in here isn’t he?”I asked suddenly, looking at all the plants that surrounded me. “You had to have him here for the process to be complete!”

“Smart lad.”She muttered sardonically. “Try sand find him if you can, but know that the flowers here are poisonous. All except for the ones he’s concealed in. but in,”she looked up at the sky, her eyes sparkling, “ten minutes he’s mine again Ken. You can’t take him from me once he’s fully under my control. And that Digidestined child is still alive too.” She cooed.

My eyes widened considerably as I gasped, looking at the immense garden around me. How would I ever be able to find him in this?! ‘You did it once before.’ A voice in the back of my head reminded me.

“Ken!” I heard Kari shout out from behind me. I spun around, and was faced with the remaining Digidestined, all of them. “Where’s Daisuke?”

“He’s hidden in the flowers! We have to find him! We don’t have that much time left!”I shouted out. “God, where is he?!”I whispered to myself as I felt my cheeks flush. “Where are you Daisuke?”I screamed. A smell hit me again. The smell of roses. I gasped, suddenly realizing where he was. “The roses! Look for the roses and don’t touch any other flower!”I ordered, suddenly racing around looking for the red flower.

“No!” Tasuimon screamed, suddenly flaring out a shock wave of power. Almost at once all the flowers in the garden turned black and wilted, dying almost instantly. Torn bushes began sprouting in their place leaving a thick wall between anything. “Oh, and their tips are poisonous too.”she squealed happily. “In seven minutes the Link will become completed and the Dendrite Moon will appear and the Mirrored Fate will be mine!”

“Not if I have anything to do with it.”I hissed, trying to scan the area I was in for any hint of him. I left the area, after deciding there was nothing and snaked my way around the large fountain of the pure white angel holding a golden harp with a bunch of small flowers sculpted into it’s hair. Water spilled from the top it the harp, neatly into the two lower basins in the fountain.

As I passed by the center, I heard a strangle jumble of voices in my head begin to stir, speaking to each other in a different language that almost sounded like gibberish. As soon as I stopped running to try and listen they stopped and when I continued on they began again. ‘Turn back.’ One voice seemed to say and I obeyed obediently. ‘You did it once before.’

‘But I can’t remember!’ I mentally screamed back. ‘I can’t remember…’ that one thought seemed to depress me as I began to cry. I stumbled all the way back to the fountain and hit its ledge, crying. My tears hit the surface and rippled, causing small liquid shock waves to appear. “I just can’t remember.” I muttered over and over again as the voices got louder.

Before I could even process it, the voices began to scream, their shrill screeches pierced the inside of my skull as I muffled a cry of agony. A piece of the statue broke and hit the water. But something odd happened. The voices stopped screaming and they began to talk again. And as if my ears had become adjusted to them, I began to understand. They weren’t speaking in gibberish, they were speaking one after the other, forming sentences.

“Five minutes!”Tasuimon counted down, gloating already.

‘Listen to us Ken.’ Four different people said quickly. Their voices were all rushed and airy, jut like you’d expect ghosts to sound. ‘Remember the night, remember the fight. Remember the love and the pain, remember the hurt and the gain. Remember the oath and the bone, remember the fright and the stone.’ Hundreds of people seemed to be telling me quickly as my head throbbed from all their ‘help’.

My hand absently dipped in the water and I gasped out in shock. Suddenly, pictures began to swirl in my head, forming coherent forms and memories that were long forgotten form a past I once lived. There was a small boy that looked very similar to myself and he was standing in a garden exactly like this one. There was a large moon in the sky and a circle of silver radiated off it, and with every second that passed it seemed to get closer.

Looking up at the sky myself, I saw the moon, high in the endless sea of black looking down, almost wincing as a silver circle approached it, almost eating it as it appeared.

Then, out of nowhere Tasuimon appeared, holding a single rose, black at the tips and she threw it down at the boy laughing evilly. She told him one thing before she vanished behind a thick shrub “Fools rush in where angels fear to tread”. Then the entire scene was gone in the blink of an eye and I was back in the garden. Or was it, I never really left?

“Fools rush in where angels fear to tread.”I repeated desperately, looking around the garden as if it would explain itself.

“Three minutes!”

“Ken we can’t find him!”Iori cried as Tk wrapped his arms around Matt. By this time his entire body was infected and he was coughing madly as blood spilled out of his mouth, onto the white marble of the floor.

I began to panic. “Fools rush in where angels fear to tread.”I repeated again as the smell of roses came back. A clock boomed.

“It’s almost time!”she shrieked out in joy, laughing madly.

“We have to find him now!”Kari warned panicking just as I was.

“Fools rush in where angels fear to tread, there has to be something that could help!”I pounded my fist into the fountain just as another piece fell off. As the small pebble of white hit the crystal water, I saw the moon ripple off of the angel’s golden harp. It was reflecting the small roses in its hair… roses… oh my God…

Without even thinking I jumped into the fountain, smashing on the stone that made up the sculpture. My knuckle began to bleed as the clock boomed again and at that moment Matt convulsed into a fit of spasms and screamed out in agony.

“It’s happening!”Tasuimon bellowed maniacally. But just as soon as the clock had hit it’s last note, I made a large dent in the statue and tore it apart, revealing an unconscious Daisuke. His eyes sprang open as he looked up at me. I didn’t even bother with anything else as I hugged him close to me, refusing to let go.

“Ken.” He coughed lightly as I looked down at him. He was slightly different, now possessing Matt’s soul. His hair was now blond tipped and his skin went several shades lighter, giving him the appearance of a half tanned Matt. his eyes were surrounded in a spiral of sapphire blue, still holding all the warmth of Tai’s chocolate brown eyes. He was so beautiful it made my heart stop.

“You’re too late Digidestined!”Tasuimon began to cheer, beaconing Daisuke to her side. In my grasp I could feel his muscles involuntarily moving to get up, but his mind wanted to stay with me, I was sure of it.

Then, the sky will be darkened by the wings of many bats. ‘ The voices in my head seemed to repeat as a small bush on the side of the fountain exploded, causing several bats to be released into the air. They swarmed up, and began to hover, blocking out the moon’s rays. Then, the voices stopped as a shimmering began to form in the pools of water and a light sprang up, wrapping itself around the garden, surrounding all the dead plants with a pale sparkling.

Then, that sparking took on a form and in an instant, there was twelve children, sitting in opposite corners of the garden, all of them hovering over plants, that mysteriously began to bud again. We all gasped, for these children resembled us in ways we couldn’t even begin to imagine. You could feel their personalities radiate off them along with the light they were giving off.

‘The fallen people will invoke the name of the undead Digimon king.’ Then, they began to mutter Daisuke’s name over and over again, causing him to double over in pain as he clutched at his stomach.

Then, angels will shoot arrows of Hope and Light at the loved ones they have been sent to protect. And then a miracle will happen.

“They actually spoke, allowing everyone to hear. Tk looked over at Kari, then at myself, as a confused expression played out on his face. ‘Which one is Light?’ he asked mentally, as I heard, still holding onto Daisuke with all my might.

A small girl with long honey brown hair walked over with the boy I saw in my memory and they were smiling at me, nodding their heads simultaneously. The boy then left the girl’s side and walked over to me, as the girl walked over to Kari. They gently touched our heads, smiling so serenely that I wished with all my heart and soul I could go back to living a life of total innocence like they do.

“You know Ken.”He spoke as he evaporated, passing right through me. My blood ran cold.

“It’s you Kari.”I spoke after a minute. “You’re still the child of Light in this world.”

‘But our loved ones are dead now.’ Tk reminded me mentally as I almost laughed.

“No Tk, you were never sent to protect Matt and Kari was never there to protect Tai. They’ve been staring you right in the face this entire time.”I pointed to Miyako and Iori. “Long before you were even born, two people fell in love and through a mistake they were split up, but now, they’re back again.”

‘He who inherits the power is dying Ken, you must hurry.’ Kaleb spoke to me. I looked down at Daisuke, withering in my arms, going through the most intense pain I could fathom.

“Guys fast! Daisuke is dying!”

“And once he does he will be mine! Born of evil and raised in darkness!”Tasuimon spat out in victory.

“I won’t let you have him.”I growled at her. “I lost him once and I don’t plan on losing him again! Kari, Tk!”both of them nodded, linking hands as they did all those years ago, reliving one of the worst memories of their lives.

Small slivers of pink and yellow began to form in their palms as a boy with

golden blond hair began walking toward Tk. Once he touched him, the blonde’s eyes turned a different shade of a color I didn’t even know how to name. Kari became possessed in a fashion too, as they concurrently lifted their arms and threw their arrows at Miyako and Iori, who just braced themselves.

Within a second of the arrow hitting them, all four tumbled to the ground, dead. Tk and Kari drained of all their life force and Miyako and Iori dead from the wound. As their blood leaked out, it joined, merging together to form a small stream of blood that leaked all the way over to where I was kneeling with Daisuke. The bundle in my arms suddenly jerked, and his eyes glazed over, so now the only thing I could see were the whites of his eyes.

Before I could collect him, his hand lashed out, splashing right in the blood trail. Then, something extraordinary happened. Instead of the maroon trail came in contact with his skin, I began to absorb. Daisuke cried out, literally dying from the pain of it all.

For some reason, I could feel what was happening. Their blood was coursing through him, destroying all the Digimon DNA that Tasuimon put in him. “NO!”she cried out, as the children began to giggle, them the began to float all around us, spinning faster and faster until we all became almost dizzy.

She glared at me with pure evil in her once beautiful eyes and her lips were pulled into a sour leer. “You’re destroying him! If you rid him of the DNA I placed in him, he’s going to die! You’ll be killing him!”

“I know.”I spoke quietly as I placed his twitching body down on the ground, standing up to face her. “But I won’t ever let you get to him again. I’m going to annihilate you from ever hurting anyone I love again!”

“You can’t do anything!”she yelled, balling her fist.

“You’re wrong you see.”I smirked. “I’m the child of Light again. I can do whatever I want!”

“NO!”she screamed again, charging directly at me. Her hands shooting out their piercing needles ready to drain my life again. I didn’t even try to stop it as I felt the deadly daggers rip through my flesh, embedding themselves so far down my throat I began to choke. “Say goodbye to your life Digidestined!”

“No…”someone coughed as she screamed, curling into a ball while standing. I looked down, catching a glimpse at what was causing her so much pain. A long blade of yellow light was dripping with blood and sticking out of her stomach. She hollered the most shattering sound I had even encountered before bits of her began to fade into the night, never to be seen again.

I collapsed on the ground, clutching my neck as I inched my way back over to Daisuke. He was panting hard, with his hand extended slightly. His attack had killed her finally. He hit the ground even harder than I did if possible and began to pant, trying to collect his breath before he winced one final time, blinking repeatedly.

“Ken.”He called out to me as I smiled, pulling myself closer to him. “You’re injured.”He muttered numbly.

“Yea.”I tried to laugh, holding my throat.

“No.”he motioned, looking at my stomach. There was a gaping hole, and blood was pouring out. I stared at the wound paralyzed. I hadn’t even felt it… “I’m sorry,”he apologized, “I’m sorry for what I did… God, the things I did…”he began to cry furiously. “The things she did to me…”he shuddered, wrapping his arms around his body, curling into a defensive ball and cried. “Please say you forgive me…”he pleaded.

“God Daisuke, I never blamed you… I love you Daisuke Motomiya. I always will.”

“I love you too Ken.”He muttered, clinging onto my blood soaked shirt.

“I’m so sorry.”I muttered, as he nodded.

“It’s okay. I understand.”

And with that, I took his head in my hands, bringing my lips down onto his in a firm and passionate kiss, leaving behind the restrictions that had always been set up when it came to him. I tasted his life for one moment, right before I took it away.

With is dead form in my hands, I wept, collapsing over him, welcoming death as it approached me. My heart was already taken from me and there was no reason for living now.

From the past until completion, the Digidestined will survive. That which was plaguing each child will vanish; their mission now vanquished. Never to live again, their souls will remain human, untouched and pure. But as it has been foretold, there is only perfection and purity for humans in one place.

Death

::Epilogue::

Somewhere in the distant future, a small boy with spiky brown hair, streaked with golden blond highlights ran through the park, seeking out someone. His oddly colored eyes, mahogany brown speckled with a cobalt blue, suddenly fell upon a boy with hair as dark as the night and as deep as the ocean. His eyes were the most beautiful shade of purple he had ever encountered and he knew that that was the boy he was supposed to meet.

“Hi there.”He smiled warmly, as the boy with the blue hair looked up at him.

“Hello.”The other responded happily. Their gazes locked for a long while, and the sparks were almost visible as four other children walked close to them, all smiling and laughing.

“Hey!”a tall girl with an uncanny shade of purple as a hair color greeted. There was a shorter girl with long brown hair holding onto her arm, waving almost shyly. When the brown haired boy looked over at the other two, (both boys) he smiled again. The shorter of the two, the one with the blue hair and the amazing sea green eyes winked and his taller, blond haired companion chuckled.

“So we meet again.”He spoke in volumes that seemed to be beyond his ten years.

“Yes.”The brown haired boy agreed. “It’s been a while.”

“Too long in fact.”The blue haired, violet-eyed boy agreed, firmly clasping onto the brown haired boys hand. “Too long in deed.”

They all began to play, running around the park, ignoring absolutely everything that wasn’t each other. The laughed and cavorted, getting tangled up in each other’s presences, sucking up as much as they could before they had to leave again.

And from high above them, twelve little figures smiled, for now, their work was done. They were finally allowed to go back to the lives that they were denied, finally living through the eyes of six children that held the world’s innocence in their hands, not even knowing they possessed it.
